No kidding. Even if Fox gets these guys wide open shots it won't matter. We need like a big and two 3 and d players badly.

Bingo. We aren't making the conference finals this year, don't waste assets unless they are a perfect long term fit.Enzo The Baker said:
I don't think we need to do anything because the the likelihood of us making the playing isn't that great. I'd rather save our assets and pick up a big for a couple seconds just so Wemby doesn't die.
Yep. 21/6/5 on 9-17/2-5 shooting for Castle tonight. He's gonna be so good way sooner than we expect.Average Joe said:

I like your starting five, but that is a small lineup. I wouldn't start Castle, and bring him in as a swiss army knife to play the 1, 2, or 3. The Spurs really need to pick up at least one other 5 or a 4. I'd like to see the Spurs trade for someone like Jonas Valanciunas to take some pressure off and backup Wemby. If they are on the court together, Wemby is a great 4. But they really need a big four, and someone like Valanciunas. Spurs frontcourt needs help. Sochan to me is a great backup, but not a starter for a championship run.Guitarsoup said:Obi Wan Ginobili said:Why?2008and1 said:

The most I would do is pick up DayRon Sharpe for a second if they think we could keep him on a Julian type deal.
Otherwise, if something too good to pass up happens, do it, if you get a pick to use the exception on an ending player happened, do it, if someone gets cut and wants to sign with us, do it.
We aren't a conference finals team, just work on development and chemistry.
Start Wemby, Barnes, Castle, Paul, Fox
Then pull Fox earlier for Julian or Devin and run the team with Paul.
Then when Wemby rests, pull Paul and Castle with him and bring in Sochan, Keldon and Fox. Always have one of Fox or Wemby on the floor and one of Castle/Sochan.
Sochan is straight up one of the best roll man by stats right now, so spend a lot of second team with him and Fox for now and first team with Wemby and Fox.
Just spend time developing chemistry and developing skills. If we make the play in, great. If not, don't care.

Its hard to be patient, but I agree with you on holding off and watching the waiver wire. I think we definitely need a big 4 though. I could see a trade happening for that. Right now Wemby is taking too much defensively, and needs a big warm body next to him. But we need to wait and see how this 25 draft will turn out before doing too much, other than addressing a big 4 and/or a backup 5.Guitarsoup said:Earth Rider said:I like your starting five, but that is a small lineup. I think you switch Castle and Jeremy based on matchups and if you need more size in the starting lineup you start. Jeremy.
Of everyone in the NBA that defends at least four shots per game at the basket Jonas is dead last in defense. And to afford him we would have to trade Chris Paul and we're not going to trade Chris Paul to Washington. I also don't think we would want his contract next year as well.
I think we might hope that someone is traded and waived or we might go and pick up someone small like sharpe from the nets, if we think we can resign him in the off-season to a good contract. Otherwise, I think we probably stand pat. I don't think we're a conference finals team this year, so it doesn't make sense to make a big trade unless we're going to get a long-term key player
I love Castle and I understand on the stats. Personally I would like to see him develop as a multi-tool player until we are ready to contend. We have a strong bench no doubt now. Our bench is upper crust of NBA benches. Completely agree on the competent big. that is critical imo, and would like to see the Spurs trade a couple seconds for a competent big.Enzo The Baker said:Earth Rider said:I like your starting five, but that is a small lineup. The stats have told us overwhelmingly that Castle needs to be in that starting group. I think the ideal thing would be having Paul in the second unit with he, Vassell and Sochan coming off the bench. That's a pretty formidable bench if it's Paul orchestrating. They just need a competent big.
I assume Fox will come off the bench tomorrow though.

You'd think that CP3 captaining the bench would bring some needed stability. I think we may go something like:
Starters: Vic-Barnes-Castle-Dev-Fox
Bench: ?-Sochan-Keldon-Champ-CP3
Idk about you but that bench is starting to look real
competent on paper. You add a 2-way stretch to backup Wemby and the pieces even fit together well.
