Hoping MEM blows us out now so Mitch doesn't think he needs to send Wemby back out there with the bum shoulder.
I don't think we need to do anything because the the likelihood of us making the playing isn't that great. I'd rather save our assets and pick up a big for a couple seconds just so Wemby doesn't die.

If you think we can keep DayRon Sharpe on an extension this summer cheap like Champagnie, you think about sending a second for him.
But other wise, there is a roster spot open to grab someone that gets cut this week.

I like your starting five, but that is a small lineup. I wouldn't start Castle, and bring him in as a swiss army knife to play the 1, 2, or 3. The Spurs really need to pick up at least one other 5 or a 4. I'd like to see the Spurs trade for someone like Jonas Valanciunas to take some pressure off and backup Wemby. If they are on the court together, Wemby is a great 4. But they really need a big four, and someone like Valanciunas. Spurs frontcourt needs help. I think you switch Castle and Jeremy based on matchups and if you need more size in the starting lineup you start. Jeremy.
Of everyone in the NBA that defends at least four shots per game at the basket Jonas is dead last in defense. And to afford him we would have to trade Chris Paul and we're not going to trade Chris Paul to Washington. I also don't think we would want his contract next year as well.
I think we might hope that someone is traded and waived or we might go and pick up someone small like sharpe from the nets, if we think we can resign him in the off-season to a good contract. Otherwise, I think we probably stand pat. I don't think we're a conference finals team this year, so it doesn't make sense to make a big trade unless we're going to get a long-term key player

The stats have told us overwhelmingly that Castle needs to be in that starting group. I think the ideal thing would be having Paul in the second unit with he, Vassell and Sochan coming off the bench. That's a pretty formidable bench if it's Paul orchestrating. They just need a competent big.
I assume Fox will come off the bench tomorrow though.
Will be interesting to see if we try to consistently play two different styles depending on whether Paul is in the game, with or without Fox.
To me you need to see what trying to play more uptempo with Fox running the show looks like. A Fox, Wemby, Sochan, Castle, Devin lineup needs to get out and run, and you also have more capability to play pressure defense without CP3 in there.

Its hard to be patient, but I agree with you on holding off and watching the waiver wire. I think we definitely need a big 4 though. I could see a trade happening for that. Right now Wemby is taking too much defensively, and needs a big warm body next to him. I love Castle and I understand on the stats. Personally I would like to see him develop as a multi-tool player until we are ready to contend. We have a strong bench no doubt now. Our bench is upper crust of NBA benches. What do you mean by "develop as a multi-tool player"? I don't know what could be better for his development than to be playing with Fox and Wemby right now, as many minutes as possible. They are going to take so much pressure off this kid, he can now focus on hitting open shots, crashing the boards, and harrassing the other teams guards and wings. That sounds like a multi-tool training to me.
I would argue our bench is one of the worst in the league. Wemby sits and we fall apart.
Spurs definitely need a big, but what you are thinking of doesn't exist for a couple second round picks just because we want it to. The teams with a big to trade are not looking for 2RPs.
The only bigs on the market I would really consider would be Yabusele (we can take him into space for a 2nd) or Sharpe (trade Branham or Wesley for him) and both have ending contracts, but I bet Yabusele would sign here long term.
Pretty much anyone else would require Paul or Keldon to be traded, and I don't really see most of the other guys on the market as a long term backup big. Rob would be great if we could count on him for more than a couple dozen games. Jonas and Vooch couldn't guard Angel Reese.

Supposedly the Hawks are trying to work out a deal for Brandon Ingram. I just dont see NOLA wanting Bogi at all and both ATL and NOLA are trying to cut salary, especially for next year. NOLA needs another center, but Yves Missi is clearly their guy for the future, so not sure they want to pay that much for Capela on a team going to the lottery. Hunter and Bogi both have multiple years left and NOLA has extensions starting next year. I think it ends bad for both teams, and requires others to jump in.

100% agree on staggering Fox and Wemby as much as possible. I'd love to see Fox as a 6th man star ala Manu but I know that isn't going to happen. We desperately need someone that can create off the dribble playing with the second team though. The offense just completely goes stagnant at times while also getting abused at the rim defensively once Wemby steps off the court.
You'd think that CP3 captaining the bench would bring some needed stability. I think we may go something like:

Bench: ?-Sochan-Keldon-Champ-CP3

Have the game start and end with Wemby and Fox, but other than that, stagger them so you always have top 15 scorer on the court.
Pull Fox early and let Paul run the first team some. When Vic rests, bring in Sochan and Fox. Sochan is actually one of the best roll guys in the league by stats this year.
And you need to see what a Fox and Devin backcourt looks like. Ultimately, I think Devin becomes the 6th man unless actually getting to be the third option unlocks something in him. But the way Steph is playing, he's gonna be the third option by next year.
I think that us drafting Kon Knueppel or Tre Johnson is pretty likely, and they could start at wing while Vassell is the 6th man. That would give us way better shooting in our starting lineup.
As good as Fox is, I think he is more of a #2 guy, and this will be the first time that he has played with someone with more gravity than him since Malik Monk at Kentucky. Him actually getting to play as a #2 and Devin getting to play as a #3 or 4, will ideally boost their effectiveness like it does with Maxey when Embiid decides to play.
I think we will have a number of games where we need to look at how different guys gel with each other.
Actually having rim pressure may open up a lot of shots on the outside for once.
