Throughout my childhood (90s) through mid 2000's it was absolutely the Cards, Braves and Cubs

Today we have a manufactured rivalry with Texas and that's it

I never saw the Cubs any different than thew Reds or Brewers. Most of the time it was us or the Cards at the top.

Cubs were a good team in early 2000s

They had their moments, but I think it was pretty clear Cards, 'stros then everyone else. Probably the Cubs next but mainly because the Reds, Brewers, and Pirates were all terrible for a long time.

It's not always about who's at the top.

My list in order...

Cubs - Hated them so bad. Pissed me off to see Wood and Prior mow us down every time they started against us.
Cards - This one really heated up in the 2000s with a divisional foe meeting in the playoffs. Friggin Jim Edmonds can take a long walk off a short cliff.
Braves - Atlanta emerged as a rival during our 90s playoff streak. We always matched up against them but just could never over the hump. I respected them more than the others but hated played them.

Honorable mention goes to the Mets, Dodgers, and Pirates.

My whole Intial point was that they were a rival. Behind St Louis and Atlanta but still a rival. Their fans showed up in droves at the dome and MMP. Lots of heated contest

The Cubs were absolutely a rival, saw many heated arguments in the stands when the Cubs came to town in the early 2000s. Mostly because they were annoying as hell. I respect the Cards rivalry, but I freaking hated the Cubs and their fans.

The Braves were another one you hated because we lost to them so many damned times in crucial moments.

Back in the 80s it was the Dodgers. My dad got my grandma a Dodgers hat for Christmas one year as a gag and I had never seen a loving Christian woman like that get so pissed off.

It's hard to maintain old rivalries when you no longer play and it's tough to develop new ones when you suck. I imagine things will heat up when we start battling for a playoff spot.

Hate to admit it, but I actually like the Cubs. My dad grew up a Cubs fan, so that meant that whenever they were in town, we'd get to go see a game or two. Don't get me wrong, I was brought up 100% stros (and my dad is now even more of a stros fan than cubs), but when you're a little kid, you look forward to going to the ball park because a team is in town. On top of that, every year we'd see a game at Wrigley, and that quickly became my favorite park.

I've never viewed the cubs as a rival like I did with the cards and braves. I mean, I hated losing to them, but losing to the cards or braves was way worse.

And I view the rangers as a rivalry as well, but not the same as our NL rivalries. I miss those

Back in the old NLWest days it was the Dodgers for sure. Also had some pretty good run in years with the roger craig era Giants.

Later days it was cards and braves for sure. Cubs were always so crappy outside of that small window that they didn't matter much.

You can make an argument for..

Cubs
Cards
Dodgers
Braves
Rangers

Cubs - Long divisional history, tons of their fans came to games in Houston, rigged game in Milwaukee that kept us out of the playoffs

Cards - Most Houston fans were Cardinal fans before we ever had a team. Closest divisional rival for a long time. Lots of great games. Probably #1 on the list.

Dodgers - F the Dodgers. Lots of playoff animosity

Braves - same, overcame it finally in 05 in one of the most epic games of all time.

Rangers - in state rival, rivalry will only strengthen

You can also add Oakland in now. Very similar GM approaches, lots of players who have played for both teams. More of a respectful rivalry.

This. I hated playing the Braves but at the same time I used to enjoy rooting for them when they weren't playing the Astros. It was hard to root against guys like Chipper, Maddux, Glavine, etc.

My two favorite baseball players of all time are actually Craig Biggio and Greg Maddux.

Speaking of Biggio... I booked my hotel/flight for Cooperstown this summer. Anyone else going?

I'm from Earth. I played a lot of third base growing up so I enjoyed watching him play the game.

I had no problem rooting against Maddux and Glavine and the 6 inches off the outside corner they used to get.

Padres are not playing games. They're making moves and trying to win.

Matt Kemp, Derek Norris, Justin Upton, Wil Myers, Brandon MorrowWill Middlebrooks, Shawn Kelley, Brandon Maurer Josh Johnson and now Shields

It's crazy to think that we could be seeing Correa in an Astros uniform as early as next year.

Next meaning 15 or 16 because if he plays like he did last year, he needs to be up by Sept at the absolute latest.

We need to all get Crawford box tickets one game against a ****ty pitcher. And see if we can get a home run ball or two

I was in the Crawfords multiple times least year. Best seats in the house.

Every time the ball leaves an Astros bat we have to jump up and scream SPRINGER DINGER until everyone around us hates us.

If you want a home run ball, the Crawford boxes are obviously the best place to be. However, I prefer sitting down on the third base line where the stands cut in (where they show the pitch info)

Diamond Club or bust (we need to find corporate sponsors!)

I just buy the $10 tickets and then sit wherever I want. I usually end up along the right field foul line.
