I just buy the $10 tickets and then sit wherever I want. I usually end up along the right field foul line.

Last couple times I've tried this, there was either an usher who asked to see my ticket or an usher came down to where I decided to sit and made me go back to my original seats.

You must be overly ambitious with where you target to sit and/or aren't very good at acting like you belong.

I always get the cheapest tickets and sit wherever. There was one game last season and there was an usher at the top of the section. My friend and I straight up asked him if we could go sit down there and he didn't care

I was in the Crawfords multiple times least year. Best seats in the house.

Every time the ball leaves an Astros bat we have to jump up and scream SPRINGER DINGER until everyone around us hates us.
Somehow I feel as if you have done this before.

I must have terrible luck then. I normally just try to sit somewhere down one of the foul lines. I usually grab a drink and a dog and just walk down and grab a seat. Had an usher last season walk straight down and ask to see my ticket... I explained what I was doing and she said "These aren't your seats. You can't sit here."

This was in the 6th inning I believe.

The problem with waiting till the later innings is that ushers have seen what sections of seating are empty and will be suspicious when chairs that were empty for 6 innings, suddenly are filled.

I guess I've always thought the later in the game the less of a problem the ushers would have with it.

You definitely have had bad luck. I wouldn't let that keep you from trying in the future. I think I have had an usher check once or twice, so I just walked a few sections over to an usher who couldn't care less and sat there. Sometimes you just gotta find the right employee haha

That happened to me one time so I just went to the other foul line. Most of them don't care but a few do.

Toyota Center and NRG on the other hand are WAY more difficult to get the free upgrade. I tried to move up during a pre-season game and an usher darn near threw me out of the stadium.

Have to find the sections that don't have an usher there...there was one on the 3rd base line last season that we always snuck down to.

If you want a home run ball, the Crawford boxes are obviously the best place to be. However, I prefer sitting down on the third base line where the stands cut in (where they show the pitch info)
Gibbs. Nobody wants to see your ugly mug on TV. Go sit in the nosebleeds with the rest of the trolls

If those Irish guys can sneak into the superbowl with no tickets, and sit in 20k seats..... I can get by sitting on the 1st deck at Minute Maid with $10 seats.

Astros sat in on a Barry Zito pitching session. They showed zero interest in Albers. Jose Veras signed with the Braves, per the Chron.

Might as well sign Zito and bring Dontrelle Willis in with him

Astros getting some love from ESPN. Ranking the teams before Spring Training.

15. Houston Astros

Big offseason moves: Hired A.J. Hinch as manager; signed SS Jed Lowrie and RHPs Luke Gregerson and Pat Neshek; acquired 3B Luis Valbuena and RHP Dan Straily from the Cubs for CF Dexter Fowler; acquired C Evan Gattis and RHP James Hoyt from the Braves for RHP Michael Foltynewicz, 3B Rio Ruiz and RHP Andrew Thurman; signed OF Colby Rasmus.

Most intriguing player: George Springer. I had him in this spot last year and put him here again. Breakout potential remains large. Note: Most fun player remains Jose Altuve.

Due for a better year: The bullpen. Gregerson and Neshek should help a pen that had the worst ERA in the majors and the second-most blown saves.

Due for a worse year: Dallas Keuchel and Collin McHugh are the logical candidates, although I like both pitchers to come close to their 2014 results.

I'm just the messenger: There's an obvious concern here: It's Altuve and a Costco warehouse of strikeouts. Springer, Chris Carter and Gattis may combine for 90 home runs and nearly 600 strikeouts, which could push the lineup into prolonged slumps of whiffs and scoreless innings.

The final word: I like the Astros more than most -- calling them the surprise team of 2015 -- and pointed out that they had the worst production in the majors last year at first base, third base and left field. So improvement at those positions will be vital. Yes, a lot is riding on Keuchel and McHugh to be very good again but I believe they will be. The Astros' plan is coming together, augmented with some free-agent signings, and they're going to be competitive for the first time in years.

I keep forgetting about the bullpen guys we signed. I really hope we aren't done with the rotation this offseason. Besides that, everything looks good.

I think this is the biggest make or break for us this year. I fully expect to be better in the pen and at the plate. We really need to keep it up on the mound.

Wow, way to go out a limb saying they are due for a worse year but that they likely won't

I view that as a good thing for us, though. Keuchel and McHugh had dominant years last year. Odds are that they will slip a bit. But despite the logical choice on who will likely regress, it appears that it shouldn't be a drastic drop. Not really sure who else there was to pick, honestly
