Update from mobtraderumora said they are staying with Avila

Interesting that we're leaving DDJ and Feliz unprotected (unless there are changes before midnight)

Correa is fully recovered as well. He's expected to start the season in corpus

It's after 3 or 4 years in the minors you have to be protected? If you aren't, someone can claim you in the rule 5 draft, but then it costs you a pick?
quote:I was reading that Feliz(the guy we used a spot on) would have likely gone #1 in the rule 5 draft. So does that mean he is ready for the majors right now?quote:

Players who were drafted or had their rights acquired (Int'l FA) at age 18 or younger are protected from Rule 5 for 5 years. Players drafted 19 or older (college kids) are protected for four years.
Teams who draft them in the Rule 5 draft have to keep them on the 25 man roster for the full following season, else offer them back to the original team.

The Astros are known to be seeking relief help and they might be aiming high. Houston has reached out to Scott Leventhal, the agent for David Robertson, to express interest in the Yankees closer, an industry source told Ken Davidoff of the New York Post. Still, it's not known whether the Astros are willing to approach the four-year, ~$52MM deal that Robertson is after.
quote:Geez, I kept hearing 90 or 95 over 5 years for Hanley, and assumed it was 5 years/ 88 million. 4 years/88 millino is ridiculous for a guy that has been hurt so much.
Hanley with $22 mil/yr. panda probably with $18-20 mil/yr. both too rich for the Astros meager $30 mil budget.

Looks good

Astros would also be losing the Marlins' 2015 draft pick that they received in the Jarred Cosart trade. Under the collective bargaining agreement, free agents who
receive a qualifying offer from their recently-departed club as
Robertson received from the Yankees will cost the signing club their highest non-protected draft pick.
That draft pick figures to be in the low-30's next season for the
Astros, a pick which they used in 2014 to draft center fielder Derek
Fisher, who lit Tri Cities on fire with a .303/.378/.408 line with 17
steals in only 41 games and the front office reportedly loves. Will
they really want to spend perhaps $50 million and give up the chance for
another Derek Fisher-type prospect?
