I understand that we need a closer but damn what good is a closer if you never have the chance for save opportunities? We need middle of the pen help to get it to a closer. Think that should be our first focus.

Speaking of relief pitchers, any updates on Jesse Crain? Sure would have been nice to have that dude available last year. If he is on schedule to pitch next year, then maybe pursuing a closer might not be a bad idea if Crain is able to work the 7th or 8th inning
did you watch us play last year? We blew leads in the 9th inning SOOOOOO many games.
A closer isn't our biggest need right now, but we could sure use one to win us a few more games.
Also I think we are going for one of these three younger top-tier guys so we can sign them to a 3-5 year contract. I think Lunhow and co want whoever we get to be the guy for the next several years as we become contenders.

We dont need an overpaid 1 inning pitcher.. but we absolutely need a reliable arm or two that we can count on in late inning situations. We have a decent offense.. especially if we can upgrade the corner infield spots (I think Singleton has a much better sophomore year). But what kills us is relief pitching.
I honestly wouldn't mind trading Carter. I still think last season was too good to be true. We could get a good player, and we have Reed who is coming up who will be sped through the minors in order to become a DH

I believe he wants to keep fowler. But it looks as if the Jays were the ones starting the talks. You definitely listen to see if they offer up something crazy that you can't say no to.

If we're not going to extend Fowler, he needs to be traded for player(s) we can control for a few years.

Good, now I hope we're a runner up for Robertson. Spending half our offseason budget on a closer would be a huge head scratcher with all our other holes.
Multiple sources say the Astros have been pursuing SS Jed Lowrie.
Decent veteran stop gap for a couple years...
We should have pursued him a month ago. And we should have Donaldson playing next to him.
