Also, this. Did you see the "Chalets" along the 18th fairway? Maybe saw 15 people sitting in them the last few groups (and there are a SH/T TON of them)…course looks cool I guess but damn the atmosphere is awful, for a variety of reasons.

I looked at going months ago but it was clear the ticket inventory was super low. They knew it was going to be tough to have a lot of people standing so why not have grandstands everywhere?
Yeah, I don't get the spectator issue. I'm not sure why USGA couldn't square this issue away with LACC?

Not sure they would need to even do that. Sounds like the club had a big say in the tickets and according to nolayingup, they simply didn't release very many daily passes to the general public (something like 5000 tickets).

Man I'm seeing the 2024 US Open at Pinehurst weekend single tickets are already sold out. I wanted to go and visit some old friends and catch a round.
The 2017 PGA Championship had a military allotment that I was able to utilize. Does anyone know if the the US Open normally does this?

It hasn't been that bad, but yesterday when Rickie made that long putt on 13, I'm pretty sure I cheered louder than the entirety of the crowd around the green.
Did realize Sam B. had such a poor 3rd round...yikes.

(tv is fooling everyone how light it is or isn't those final holes; local friend says its relatively dark during those time esp. w overcast). Also R Fowler needs to remove sunglasses when putting in the 'early dark' (are those prescription or something?).

Jamming more people in wasn't going to help anything. It's a good golf course and just a poor place to have a spectator event. There are a lot of great US golf courses that can't hold tournaments effectively. I'm pretty sure you could buy tickets direct from USGA until about two weeks ago so saying the members gobbled them all up isn't true either.

Lol wut? The lack of attendance is a disgrace. It's the ****ing US Open. I don't care how it happened (members buying, course protection, deal made prior)... It's a joke.
We've gone from laughing at LIV for not being able to fill every fairway with fans to defending the lackadaisical LA crowd + pretentious ****s that have kept the US Open from being heavily attended.
I agree with Fitz. There's absolutely an element of mystique missing from this event so far. Feels like Chambers Bay. It's up to the players to create the magic.
Luckily the leaderboard is set up for that to possibly happen, but don't be surprised if it doesn't.
A big reason is the layout of the course. Lots of it runs together where there isn't room to set up for gallery. A poster earlier who attended mentioned it and it's pretty apparent when watching on tv. Now why the grandstands haven't been filled is really strange. I'm not defending anything; just saying it hasn't really bothered me either as far as watching these guys play.
The NBC coverage absolutely sucks, they never shut up, gimmicks and stupid info. How about letting us watch some gold. Director needs to be fired.
