The constant, loud drone sound is super annoying.

Leaderboard is great at the top. Who cares about the scoring, just going to enjoy these guys grind it out as the course plays harder through the weekend.

Come on USGA. I want to see these boys squirm. 62 in back to back groups is ridiculous.
The USGA lost their teeth when that new guy came in with his "tough but fair" ideas for setting up the courses. We've had 3 straight years of -6 winning it and so far this tournament is starting to look like Erin Hills in 2017 and Congressional in 2011. It's looking like the PGA Championship will have been a tougher challenge this year.
The USGA has shifted from making things impossible to going to putting the best players on the best courses in the country. Part of that is host clubs and courses not wanting the USGA to wreck the architectural integrity of their course and ruin play for their membership for months.
It's refreshing.
Things were not impossible because winners were still able to shoot -1, E or +1. That's what the US Open is supposed to be. It's supposed to be the toughest challenge in golf. I don't like this "tough but fair" stuff.
It's day 1. The USGA doesn't want to lose this course like they usually did (Shinnecock, Chambers), so they have to ease into the tough conditions. That's what they always do. The weekend will be tougher. They just weren't expecting the weather last night and today.
The difference in the last few years is that they're making it a 8/10 difficulty rather than the usual 12/10.
This is day 1. Pin positions and playing conditions will change.
Just enjoy the round.

Heard on the broadcast I believe that there are fewer tickets to this year's open. Also that other poster who was there today said it's a pretty crummy course for spectators.

Just saw that Ryo Ishikawa is -1 at the tourney. How did he even get in/what has he been up to?

The lack of fans is so lame. Rory teeing off #10 to start his second round and not a single person in the grandstand next to the tee
