I'll be there on Wednesday. Second time going, both times on Wednesday. Last time I went was 2019 when there had been a ton of rain on Mon and Tues, so more guys played the big course than usual. I'll be interested to see how much play there is this time around.

Yep, it's a shame people ask 20x the face value when The Masters is known for keeping their prices reasonable.

I think ANGC's effort to take reselling more seriously has impacted this as well. Eliminated people with yearly badges who would sell, and has scared straight a lot of others.

That's insane; I didn't realize they had gotten that outrageous. What happened to the Masters policing the secondary sales market?

They never really did. They would occasionally make an example out of one or two people dumb enough to post pics of the tickets so they could ID them but that was about it.

Sounds like they may be taking it more seriously now though.

I don't think it is due to a crackdown. It is virtually impossible to bust folks on stubhub given the seller anonymity and no pics of the tickets. They get busted by being stupid in how they post their items for sale to where they or their tickets can be identified. They tricked dummies with color coding several years ago where people thought they were being smart by hiding the # but color coding on the ticket allowed it to be identified. Or you are a badge holder and sell to someone who makes an ass of himself at the tournament. I really think it is the social media bragging and influencer space driving it; it's just become a stratospherically hot item. Live events on general have gone crazy on prices, but the exclusivity of this one is a completely different level

I will make my yearly post that I think ANGC should make you pay up front for every ticket you ask for in the lottery. That certainly wouldn't hurt the availability of tickets and would remove some people who just enter with the plan of reselling. ANGC can certainly deal with the accounting side.

According to the Augusta local who has been supplying badges for family friends for years, the increased prices are 100% directly tied to the crackdown by ANGC. The risk of lifetime bans has gotten exceedingly high, so the resellers are jacking up prices to mitigate the risk of badge holders losing their badges for life.

There's gotta be more going on. There's basically no tickets on the secondary market. Stubhub used to have hundreds of tickets listed each day and now it's less than a dozen.

Did some looking into this. Apparently they are quizzing people when they enter on how they got their ticket. I would assume that means they have an ipad or something handy to check you out.

Now, if you are asked to leave or causing an issue they may ask for where the tickets came form.

I would assume it's a sample. They'd never get everybody in if each one got grilled.

They got SeatGeek scared enough to stop selling them, and that may be having a ripple effect of fear.

Can't quiz everyone. Sounds like they targeted badges.

But they've clearly put the fear of God into a lot of people.

Yeah, if they asked everyone getting in would be a nightmare.

If they wanted to really get ahold of it they could only ship your merch to the cardholders address.

2015 I paid $300 ea for Monday

I have (4) Monday practice round tickets that I need to sell. Based on the past, I figured I'd get $300 or $350 for them on StubHub and be done with it. Checked the seconday market last week and noticed that prices were through the roof ($2k for a single Monday ticket) and there were virtually no tickets on the secondary market.

The comments above concern me that they are cracking down on this to the point that I may end up on the naughty list. It was always a concern but increased enforcement seems to have made it more difficult.

How would you handle this if you were in my shoes?
