So what you're saying as a hypothetical is, if a pop fly is hit in the infield, and all of the players were to just stand around and stare at the ball and not even move a muscle, then it's considered a hit? '
If that's the case then the scoring rules should be changed. However, that wasn't even close to the case on that play and definitely an error.
