One nation that does not blow it at the winter Games is the country of Norway, winning two more golds this morning in women's biathlon and women's cross country (the beneficiary of the Swedish collapse) to bring their total to 10.
With three gold medals from their cross country demigod, Klaebo, virtually guaranteed, Norway will be looking to break their own all-time record of 16 golds from Beijing.
The US Americans, on the other hand, will need some big results in the next 9 days to match their result of 9 golds from each of the last 5 Games. Stolz has a couple of good chances in speed skating (should be the heavy favorite in the 1500, with the US also favored in the team pursuit), and if Mikaela Shiffrin could get out of her head she could win the slalom and even the giant slalom. Red Gerard could win gold in snowboard slopestyle.
It could all come down to possible gold medal games in ice soccer against America's Hat, who are having a miserable Games to date with no golds and only 7 medals. (A men's hockey gold, however, would redeem the whole event in the eyes of most Canadians.)
