As expected, the visuals are amazing, but I'm starting to wonder why they're still insisting on being so vague about the plot. In other words, is it part of a the-movie-sells-itself strategy or is the plot too complicated/forced/lame to distill in a trailer?
probably that the whole plot could be told in the trailer, and that the other 3 hours are just 'oh pretty colors pandora beautiful'
not saying that i won't go see it in a theater, btw, the first avatar was a visual spectacle in imax and i'm sure this will be worth the ticket price also

It's better than the opposite problem of giving away the entire movie.
One of my biggest question marks is the score, given the passing of James Horner. I love the original score, and I'm hoping this one keeps that same style and flair. The trailer music is cool and very epic sounding, but very obviously "trailer" music. So just hoping the actual score is more in line with the otherworldly sounds of the first movie.
This looks so bad. They took every single Hollywood Native American caricature and added them to the movie. "She feels…mighty."
They made them into literal space natives. It's so much more egregious than the first movie. They aren't even trying to hide the noble savage trope in this movie.

I'm with you. Nothing about that trailer made me excited to go see it.

I don't think this looks bad at all - maybe a bit underwhelming - but that "mighty" exchange bugs the crap out of me. It could just be a trailer edit, and not how the dialogue actually goes in-movie, but...
"So what does her heart beat sound like?"
"Mighty?"
... doesn't sound grammatically correct to me. Can a heart beat "sound like mighty"?
Rather, shouldn't it be...
"So how does her heart sound?"
"Mighty."
I realize I'm overanalyzing the heck out of this, it just really stood out to me.
When the first bit of dialogue in the trailer to the sequel to the biggest movie of all time sounds that dumb and grammatically incorrect, it's not some weirdo thing to question it/call it out.
I dont get why anyone is getting bent out of shape about dialogue or the story. The first movie was about the visuals being stunning IN the theater, and so will this sequel.

Reminds me of this classic line from the Simpsons.
Trailer hit the top trending spot on YouTube. Not gonna lie, pleasantly surprised. Didn't get the feeling a lot of people cared about this movie. (Yet.)
You seem overly sensitive to what amounts to innocent joking around. I hardly even notice it. And this is coming from someone who is constantly called overly sensitive.
Cause it's not towards you. He'll constantly call me out for random miniscule stuff, or otherwise joke about me on threads that have nothing to do with me or the topic at hand.
There's joking, and then there's being passive aggressive. When it's constant, it's most likely the latter. And you know that feeling judging by some of the explosions you've had in here.
Which one of you is going to spam this thread with twitter reviews? Tweets claiming this sequel on par with godfather 2, however no one who posts on twitter has seen a movie made before 1989
Your continued passive aggression towards me is super weird, dude. Honestly can't make sense of it anymore.
Sorry, I thought I was being funny. I stopped posting on the Avatar thread back in April because I realized I was just being a d*bag about a movie you really like. I wasn't trying to be passive aggressive at all. Deleting my other post. Enjoy your film, I hope it's everything you want. Look forward to continued good convos with you on Star Wars and LOTR threads.

Sorry a bunch tweets you can easily ignore rub you the wrong way so much. Also, I would literally say the opposite. In my experience Twitter is filled with uptight critics who absolutely revere movies before 1989.

Are you surprised that the sequel to the movie that literally announced its own deus ex machina would have cheesy dialogue?
Just expect to turn off your brain and enjoy the beautiful visuals. That's 100% the best way to approach these films

Its not that easy to ignore when it takes up a whole page, lol You are right though, I think a lot of people on the forum like reading them so its not like we all dislike them.
