Visiting the Pandora land at Animal Kingdom definitely reignited an excitement for these movies for me. It is a really neat world that has a lot of wonder in it. If they can dive into it and also take some of the lessons learned from the land and add it to the movies, we could actually get something very special

Two and three are already shot. It is interesting, though, that three was originally set to come out a year after two, but now it's coming out two years after. Regardless, we're getting two and three no matter what, and at some point during that run it sounds like they'll decide if four and five are worth making as well. Scripts for all four sequels have already been written, though.
Interested to see what technological breakthrough, if any, that Cameron comes up with for this, otherwise, I'm about as excited for this as Sonic the Hedgehog.
Whatever it is will have to do with the ocean and deep-diving. (For Avatar 2, anyway.)

Supposedly there's a ton of cutting edge underwater stuff this go around. I don't know that it'll matter to general audiences, but Cameron apparently "revolutionized" underwater mo-cap. I can't imagine how much of an impact that will have on the industry as a whole, seeing as basically this and Aquaman are the only franchises even utilizing underwater mo-cap, but that's been the buzz so far.

Don't they have a bunch of kids? There was some EW spread or something that showed the entire cast of kids, and there were at least five of them. Really hoping these sequels don't get too kid-centric...

This movie is going to replicate the insane success of the first movie. You have a generation of people who want to return to Pandora, and a generation of kids who have no idea what this is but will recognize the name as the movie that used to hold the record before Endgame.

Ehhh, I think you overestimate the power of your first two reasons, but then you don't even mention the effect of the Avatar area in Disney World's Animal Kingdom park. If my son (10 yrs old) wants to see this movie it'll be because he's been to that park numerous times.

It's actually kind of surprising that they've never done a real, full-on Avatar video game. That universe would be ripe for an adventure/RPG open-world game in the style of Breath of the Wild.
