True but those are way less common.
how is that Theater these days? Was good when it was Santikos, then went to **** (always dirty, soda fountains out of soda, no ice) when Regal bought them out, then they closed due to Covid. Did they get better after reopening?Cinco Ranch Aggie said:
That does not seem to be up-to-date. I know that the Regal Theater I saw Top Gun Maverick has an IMAX screen since I chose that theater (a little further away from my house than I typically go for movies) to see that movie. Regal Theater on State Highway 99 in Richmond. I believe there is another theater with an IMAX screen in the area as well (one of those dinner-and-movie type of theaters).
I've only been twice, way back when they were Santikos and I saw Ender's Game, then this past May with Top Gun Maverick. The theater was clean but I was less than impressed with their carbonated drink offerings, Pepsi products with no Dr. Pepper choice. Seriously? First world problem, but aggravating to sit there watching a great movie with no drink. Oh, actually, I think I got some kind of slurpee but that damn thing didn't last 5 minutes into the movie. I didn't really notice anything ****ty about the theater back in May, but don't have a lot of experience going there. It's close enough to the house to go to, but traffic on 99 sucks ass during the time of the day that I might go to a movie, so I just stick to Katy theaters, mostly the AMC.Flashdiaz said:how is that Theater these days? It's anecdotal, but I've seen a number of people here say they have tickets for closer to Christmas. In addition, all the reports of not-nearly-full 2D screenings, but packed 3D/IMAX 3D screenings, point to a decent amount of people waiting to see it in 3D after most 3D screenings were already sold out this weekend.
But yeah, either way, an Avatar sequel was never going to garner a ton of fervent fan passion/message board discussion, since it's just not that kind of franchise. I'll see the third movie for sure, but personally, I just don't have a strong desire to speculate much about it here, or litigate the second one too much either. And honestly, it's kind of refreshing to not "have" to obsess over a big blockbuster like this (as opposed to Star Wars or Marvel) and just enjoy it for what it is.

So is the general consensus to watch this on an IMAX screen with 3D? The whole XD vs 3D vs IMAX vs Liemax is confusing. Moved to San Antonio this summer and honestly haven't had a chance to check out the IMAX at the Rivercenter but I'm guessing that's the best option?
