The name Jack Ryan is all that kept me watching. If season 3 starts as bad I'm out.

I'm at episode 7 and I've almost completely lost interest. I LOVED this show in season one, but the writing in season 2 is absolutely atrocious. Its lazy, unbelievable, and just really disappointing.

The amount of eyerolling decisions are just insane. The level of TV writing is well beyond this now, and I just have too many good shows to watch in order to want to watch something this cliche and lazy. Its been awhile since I've felt this dissaopinted in a show.

And people are right in that its not "bad". There are merits to the show. But the amount of above average content is incredible right now so its hard to watch something that is this mediocre when it had way more potential.

F It. I just finished and I'll go ahead and say I had a blast watching this season. Sure there are PLENTY of things to criticize but i kept and open mind to just have fun with it.

I also really loved Mike November's character, despite the name. It was a good contrast from the Russian station chief in Ep 1.

It's so far detached from reality but I'm fine with that. Sometimes watching people just **** **** up for 45 minutes is a good escape from daily life.

And I'll also say that the hiring of the South African militia was a blast. Seeing govt money fund those kinds of things was just cool.

I was thinking they were going to do a Clark/Ding relationship with Matice and Uber, that obviously isn't going to happen now. Although who needs Clark when they have Ryan storming palaces and beating up presidents?

Anyone watching Season 3? Just started last night and enjoyed the first episode.

However, I'm getting tired of the trend of shows that feel like they're darkly lit in so many scenes. Seems like several Amazon productions have embraced this trend (looking at you Terminal List).

Binged it straight (on holiday) and I enjoyed it. Sort of a soft Sum of All Fears with a little Cardinal of the Kremlin throw in. Definitely better than Season 2, although I barely remember most of that season (I DO remember the ridiculous "storm the palace with a few guys" at the end of that season.

4 episodes in and it's a fun ride, but has some annoyances for me. Like how did they know which container to look in on the first episode? I hate the unexplained plot jumps like that...did I miss some explanation there?

I'm also tired of the whole rogue agent/bad boss trope. That's been done so often it's just lazy writing at this point.

I'm only a couple episodes in and have enjoyed it. It's fun. Not really "Tom Clancys Jack Ryan" character wise, as we have discussed ad nauseum, but it's still a fun ride. I just can't help but think of a line from a previous Ryan film "you're not a field agent, Jack, you never were. You are an analyst. Analyze that." Or some such. Believe it was Patriot Games. Just laughable how far they have strayed from that

That being said, I really like the flashback plot device they are using this season. Gives it a little more weight and believability

Funny cause this Jack Ryan says in season 1 he's an analyst when he's about to hop on a private jet to the Middle East. I like the show but its not Tom Clancys Jack Ryan, more like a weird bond/homeland/zero dark thirty conglomeration with a Jack Ryan Title stamp

He's an analyst not a SAD officer

The pin drop was only to identify the ship. They would have used satellite to track it.

And I take back my earlier comment - they could have added a text description on the pin drop as a label with the container/door name.

Wasn't overly impressed with the writing in episode 1,But it didn't try to be much more than it is. Just a fun watch even with the regular plot holes or contrivances.

I am SO surprised to see Clancy fans here arguing this isn't his Jack Ryan.

Just wrapped it up. I second it's basically got a huge Sum of All Fears tune to it.

I am someone who actually really enjoys the Ben Affleck/Morgan Freeman Sum of All Fears (watched it very recently). Im 3 episodes into the new season and don't really understand why they don't just title this season- The Sum of All fears. Hope that's not considered spoiler as it's fairly obvious. With that said we freaking love season 3 so far.

Agreed on the Sum of all Fears parallels. I think this season is the best one yet.
