I don't recall the details of s1 anymore, but I'll rewatch it prior to s2. Just really happy to see this is coming back with more. How many shows out there right now have this kind of a vibe? Maybe Narcos?

The car attack does look lifted straight from Clear and Present danger and the South American setting helps with that too but no mention of cartels so it looks like some type of adaptation. I have high hopes! Cast looks on point.

After quite a bit of speculation that it would drop Aug 31 like S1, was hoping it was sooner than Nov 1. And I didn't even think S1 was that good. Trailer looks good, lets see if they hit their stride in S2.

I scanned the cast for the first four episodes and didn't see a character listed as Ding Chavez. Too bad but maybe like John Clark, he had his name changed due to restrictions. I didn't recognize Matice's face in the teaser but he will be back.

Maybe I'm mixing up the various iterations of the Clancy works on film, but I thought that Ryan met the Kathy character (whether named Kathy or not) at a big outdoor party of some sort, and then got whisked away by CIA types in a helicopter to go to the Middle East?

I'm pretty sure they have ignored Jack's background as a stock trader. Still, S1 was a pretty good show, and I'm looking forward to seeing where they go with it.

In the books, Jack's background was that he was a cadet at the USNA, was involved in a helicopter crash during a training mission, and spent his time while recovering playing the stock market and doing very well there iirc.

I dont specifically remember at which point he met Kathy in his history though. I want to say that when the Jack Ryan books start that they're already married.

Her father was his boss on Wall Street and didn't think very much of Jack leaving that life behind to teach at the Naval Academy IIRC

No problem. Last year/early this year I listened to all of the 80s/90s Ryan books on audiobook so it's somewhat fresh in my memory

Technically Kathy's dad came to Baltimore to recruit young Jack from the Baltimore Merrill Lynch office up to Wall Street. Kathy was at John's Hopkins at the time and I think he brought her along so they could see each other while he was in town.

He graduated from Boston College economic ba, minor in history. Commissioned in the Marine Corps and then injured in a helo crash in Greece.
He taught at the academy never went there.

We watched the entire season today. I thought it was good but I think I enjoyed season 1 more. I wish they were more than 8 episodes.

Haven't finished season 2 yet, but wtf happened to Cathy?!

Biggest departure from the books so far, and a confusing one at that. I figured with how much time they invested there, she would have stuck around, even with some of the geographic barriers.
