Oh my. What bad luck. Wasn't a huge fan of this year's lineup though it still was packed with great shows.

2007 (hot), 2011 (Scorcher + dust storm Sunday), 2012 (incredibly mild weather) were the 3 I went to.

Yep, wife and I had tix, but weren't leaving San Antonio until Wednesday afternoon. Went in 2019, after that didn't plan to return, but once it was announced earlier this year, decided to give it another go. Oh well, at least refunds are being made in full, as one would expect.

Dirty Honey/Black Crowes..

Absolutely apathetic about Dirty Honey. Felt like they're either basically an 80s/early 90s tribute band or if that's just their bit...they're good at it and they play very accessible generic mall rock music.

Black Crowes were pretty sterile as well. I sort of expected it but I still wanted a bit more. Good show but every other time I've seen them was better.

Saw Harry Styles in San Antonio and Dallas. Easily the busiest concerts I've been to this year, with lines longer than even Hella Mega, merch sales starting the day before, girls camping out 1-2 days in advance. Was going to the Houston show today as I scored pit on saturday but it got postponed :/

Some good stuff going on sale this Friday with Dua Lipa hitting Houston and Dallas, and up and coming UK pop star Maisie Peters playing at the House of Blues Bronze Rooms as well

Man I know I'm getting old when there are artists/bands I've never even heard of that are headlining basketball arenas lol.

I have a 13 year old. I know more about pop music today than I have my entire life.

I've been pushing rock into my two grade schoolers' heads pretty hard so hopefully I never have that situation lol.

My kids appreciate good rock. My daughter just prefers what is popular. My son prefers grunge.

Eerily enough, my last two concerts before covid were metallica in Sept 2019, then opeth march 2020. Now, kicking off my list for the return of the live show looks to be Opeth 12/5 and metallica 12/17 and 12/19.

Quite the symmetry there.

That Opeth/Mastodon show will be awesome. Opeth was the 2nd to last show I saw before lockdown 2/28 I believe (last was Devin Townsend 3/9). So glad to see these coming back!

oh yeh that's right I remember that conversation. I was trying to get tix to DT as it was sold out, but then it was canceled, it was mid march.
I hope he comes back and it's all sold from scratch, so I can get them when they go on sale.

Wish there was a concert in SF on the 18 so there was something to do in between both Metallica shows. As cool as the S&M 2 Night Between fan meetup/tribute show was, I'd rather do something different this year lol

how many times have you been to sf? There is a ton of stuff to see and do. I've been 4-5 times and still haven't checked everything off my list.

Not as often as LA but I was just there two weeks ago for a show lol. I think 2 times total. Going to Outside Lands in October then MTF in December. I like visiting LA more because after a show I tend to take 2 days off to visit Disneyland

these fri/sun metallica shows are perfect for a free day in between to sight see. The GG bridge, alcatraz, anchor brewery tour, fisherman's wharf, palace of fine arts, go see the metallica house, golden gate rec area, lombardi st, painted ladies.

Stuff for days in that city.

If anyone is interested, have a Floor 10 Row J ticket for The Eagles next tuesday 09/21 at the AAC in Dallas. Selling it for $250. Cheaper than TM Resale and Stubhub. Mobile Transfer ready

Secret show announced on twitter at 3pm yesterday.. cash in person ticket purchase only at the club, and it still sold out in about an hour. 500 lucky people.

@ The independent in S.F.

738 days since their last full length, in person show.. night 2 of S&M2, a show I went to!
They played 1/2 of ride the lightning.. that's always a good night.

sorry, I figured a logo on the amp and, well, 4 pretty recognizable rockstars would give it away!

Edit; now that I think about, there is San Francisco, S&M2, and a set list all referenced in my post. You must not know who Metallica is lol! That's a lot of clues

Heard about the Metallica show in Chicago last night, but was too late to book a flight for today. Oh well.

Might look into going to the NJ show if the date is good.

I was pumped to go see Gary Numan at the Granada Theater on Friday. Show was announced about six months ago. Then I just noticed the event is no longer on the website and he postponed his entire tour of because of the Delta variant.

Had tickets to DMB at Choctaw in October, just got canceled today. Said the venue couldn't meet the band's COVID protocols. Booked the trip to see Dave &Tim in Mexico in February, starting to wonder about that one as well.
