The Sands Music Festival Oct 25-30, 2021 (80sinthesand.rocks)

Next week! Can't wait for concerts every night for a week!

Sheena Easton still looks great!

Some good acts there and some OG VJ's hosting!
I cropped out my wife as I don't think she wants to be posted on Texags, but this was a shot with Downtown Julie Brown back in 2019! Nice lady.

But her hat says NO PHOTOS!

She always had a killer figure. Figured she was an aerobics fiend back in the day. Never could decide if her accent was real.

I was looking at how to see/listen to the show again and didn't realize (or had forgotten) that you get a free copy of the soundboard recording of the show with your ticket.

Just installed nugs app and am listening to The Woodlands this morning.

I will also say I've gone on YouTube and watched 3-4 different live recordings of "Black Muddy River" over the last few days. I had never heard of that song before and man it's beautiful. Coming to it from being a Mayer fan it feels very up his alley. He sings and plays the hell out of it.
Funny-a buddy I went with to both shows just brought this up yesterday about how he remembered you could get a sbd copy with your ticket but then realized we don't think we've ever done it with digital tickets. Have had the nugs app forever so I'll definitely be looking to listen on it. Glad you posted this.

And yeah, "Black Muddy River" has been on constant repeat since last Friday. Definitely in Mayer's wheelhouse. Here's the last one ever played by the Dead at Soldier Field before Jerry's death. Video is terrible quality but audio is great:

Do you know how to get the show soundboards if you used digital tickets?

https://help.nugs.net/support/solutions/articles/6000196754-i-used-a-mobile-e-ticket-or-qr-code-for-dead-co-

I had mine in my Apple Wallet and the key is to NOT include the last letter in the barcode. Only use the numbers.

I have an extra code for The Woodlands show if you all are interested.

A buddy of mine that is the biggest TOOL fan I know just called to tell me he bought 10th row Vegas 1/22 and didn't realize his brother couldn't go so I was backup invite. Nearly $500 a ticket but I couldn't pass it up.

Booked a flight from HOU to LAS for $144 round trip on Spirit (lol poor, I know...especially after the ticket cost).

Can't wait.

Does anybody need Rolling Stones tickets for the Cotton Bowl 11/2? I have a pair of GA field for sale. I'll take the hit on the fees as I upgraded to PIT right after making the purchase.

Face is $153 each and order total was $372. Will sell the pair for $300 if anyone wants them.

Lotsa fun. Sound was great as were the graphics/special effects. Our seats in 6th row were awesome and gave an unreal perspective when looking at the crowd.

The only negative was getting back to hotel. We Ubered and got raped on return trip, and the wait was long even with leaving a smidge before it was over. Guess I shoulda expected same..

Been there ~6 times and never knew this. Is it the large room that has a little 2 or 3 row upper balcony section in the back, with a stage up front?

Back on 311, I see they just played 3 club shows in the front range (this one, boulder and denver), and as a casual fan, I don't see 1 song I recognize from the radio. However they played red rocks earlier in October and played all their hits.

Were these 3 shows some special hardcore fan thing?

Yes it is that exact room with the weird squid looking light fixtures on the roof. They have a bunch of concert posters upstairs of who has played there.

We got to be up in the "VIP" balcony, about 15 or so people up there. Pretty neat experience at a tiny venue.

As for the last 3 shows - yeah it was kind of a special "30 year anniversary Halloween weekend" type thing where you had a lot people take in all 3 shows. It was nice getting to hear a lot of the older stuff and not have to sit through Amber, Down and the Applied Science drum line for the eleventy-billionth time.

Rolling Stones at the Cotton Bowl was wet and cold but soooo good! Who knew that the Cotton Bowl had the best sound system I've heard in the area? It seemed small and intimate. First time seeing the Stones and it was everything I had heard and more!

Stones were great but is the Cotton Bowl always awful in terms of logistics and staff? Went around like 3 times asking all kinds of staff, and no one had an answer as to where Gate D was. Parking was also a nightmare, ended up getting out at like 12:10ish and only because I said screw this and drove the opposite way (there was no incoming traffic). Easily the worst experience at a stadium I've had.
Hopefully the Austin show is better.

I met a group of germans in the pit, talked to 2 but they were 15 i think, and they were all going to every show of the tour. That's some dedication (and $$$)

I've met people from other countries that take long trips. Some came over from the U.K. to catch several Rush shows in the States.

When I was visiting London years ago, I met a couple of young women from Israel that were taking a break from college to travel. They were on vacation for six months. When they finished in London they were headed to Houston to rent a car and start driving the U.S.

Met a gal in Philly that was from Australia. She was going to be seeing the U.S. for three months.

Met another Aussie couple once that were vacationing for six weeks.

We don't do vacations as well as other countries for the most part. When I mentioned the six week vacationers to my old boss he said "If I can do without you for six weeks I can do without you".

It was the absolute worst I've ever seen in well over 1,000 concerts I've been to. We had PIT and it took us missing the first three songs trying to get into the section. First we tried walking down through section 24 and this lady said we needed to go to section D. So we went there and the lady says no, you have to go to section 23 and walk down.

So we did that and went all the way to the bottom, showed our tickets, and the guy wouldn't remove the chain and said it was exit only. So we walked down that entire front row and tried to go down through that entrance and the guy tells us no, you have to go back behind Rear GA and get a wrist band.

So then we go get our wrist band and walk up to PIT 1 through the floor and the guy won't let us in saying we had the wrong color wrist band and it was only for PIT 2. I absolutely blew my top. So then we stood behind the PIT section on the outerskirts and a different staff member said we couldn't stand there. I told her I'm not moving an inch because the idiot at the front of the PIT said we had the wrong wrist band given to us by another idiot. She ended up going to retrieve the right color wrist band for us, came back and gave it to us, and then we went back to the same guy and he let us in. Was most ridiculous thing I've experienced.

Having said that above, it was also my first Stones show and had a blast. It was pretty surreal the few times that Mick and Keith came over to the left side and were about 10 feet in front of us. They sounded great. Interestingly I didn't even know until today that Karl Denson was playing sax with them and has been doing so for years. I'm a massive Karl D fan so I don't know how that got by me.

CHVRCHES last night in Houston was a good time. First show of their tour. White Oak Lawn still isn't my favorite but it was ok. Just feel like a show like that both sound and lights wise would be better at a place like Revention. Show was early. Doors at 6:00, CHVRCHES was on at 7:45 and done at 9:25 or so. I was home and in bed by 10:15!

That is strange lol. Is there some kind of curfew in the area?

I saw them last night at ACL Live, show was done at like 10:30.

Yeah, White Oak is in a residential area and so they have to end (outdoor) weekday shows by 10, though they are able to have I believe a certain number of shows that go 'til 11 on the weekends. Some sort of compromise w/ the neighborhood.

No 2022 concert thread yet, so I'll put this here:

Tickets for Tears For Fears upcoming Tipping Point album tour went on sale last week. Picked up a pair for the Phoenix show on 5/27. They ain't cheap.

If you've never seen them live, they are really good. I don't listen to much 'pop', but they are one of the few exceptions.
