If it's truly a funny movie, those commercials did a huge disservice to it - in my opinion.
I think this was a majority of the problem for this release.

I'd pay to watch TC and Dallas duke it out MMA style.
I'm sure Dallas, The Debt, aTmAg, and a couple others would love to form a Voltron of disgruntled hypocrisy and annoyance to try and give me what they think I deserve.

I would imagine it's a result of studios, producers, and screenwriters shopping around and pitching different projects, passing, accepting, etc and going down the rumor mill.
Word gets around town in Hollywood.
People hear about X studio making Y screenplay with Z stars attached to it, and the rest is just Fear of Missing Out.
Dante's Peak-Volcano
White House Down - Olympus has Fallen
Armageddon-Deep Impact
Friends with Benefits - No Strings Attached
Antz-Bug's Life
Capote-Infamous
What am I missing?

I mentioned it on a different thread with a similar conversation, but it's no different from the number of times folks post on the sports forums about how little they care about the sips. It's a texags tradition at this pointThe Porkchop Express said:
My takeaway from this thread has been that there are a lot of posters who don't care about this movie and they are going to keep on posting until every last one of us knows how much they don't care.

Well, it was a really funny movie.
I know it has an "R" rating, but if you guys could also take your young teens to see the movie as well. They will laugh. They will cry. And they will get to see the first accurate depiction of gay life in entertainment ever. They will understand the challenges the LGBTQ+ community faces on a daily basis and the stigmas and shame they place on each other.BallerStaf2003 said:
I have a favor to ask my straight friends through all walks of life. Please go see "Bros". It was hilarious, but most importantly it is the first accurate depiction of gay life in entertainment ever. A lot of you have always been fascinated by how different our lives are, and here is your opportunity to understand.
You can understand the challenges we face daily, the stigmas we place on each other, the shame we felt when we were made fun of as kids, and you will relate to some degree. It might even make you shed a tear in between the moments of laughter.
Bill Eichner, thank you for making me and many others feel seen. Seen through OUR lens, and not some watered down version of what society or Hollywood think we aspire to be.
I've been in 11 weddings in my life. A best man once, and a groomsman 6 times. I haven't ever asked for anything in return but this, please go see this movie! It would really mean a lot to me and many others.
Agreed. Young LGBTQ people need to see the kind of infighting they signed up for.Quote:

To which I thought:Quote:
Luke Macfarlane revealed he had no inhibitions during his raunchy nude sex scenes with Billy Eichner. "Specifically we had an LGBT intimacy coordinator, so they were familiar with language that might be a little bit different. Billy and I felt really comfortable. We gave each other permission to go for it."
He said there was only one thing he said no to: "There was a moment when Billy was like should we spit on each other? And I was like, 'Nope! Nope!' So that was something that I decided not to do."

I had never even heard of this movie until last night when I caught Eichner's inflammatory comments and then him wondering why it has tanked.
So I went to IMDB and saw that it had a 5.1 rating (it's now up to 6.3) and the majority of the comments were from people claiming they are gay and that the movie was terrible, unfunny, and that Eichner set them back decades.
However, on Rotten Tomatoes, it has a 90% critic score (not surprising) but also a 91% audience score and I don't recall the last film I saw lineup that closely, albeit small sample sizes.
Must just be a bunch of bigots hanging out on IMDB.
After reading a little bit more about the movie on there though I came across this:To which I thought:Quote:

The "coordinator" must have been straight, because the sex scenes with Eichner and McFarlane were ridiculously unrealistic, unless [redacted to avoid the ban hammer].Quote:
