One of us is backing the cause of putting gay romance into cartoons for kids and one of us says that's bad. I'm comfortable letting God, reality, and history judge between us.

It's the same crowd that called Desantis a "book banning nazi" for having "Gender Queer", a literal lgbtq cartoon porn book graphically depicting oral sex and sodomy, removed from children's school libraries. Even the most rational, normal, every day democrats I know were wailing about that. It's crazy. Every single dem senator just voted in favor of men crushing women in sports competition and then showering and changing with them afterwards. But remember, we are the backwards freaks lol.

I've never once called Desantis anything of sort, and I'm 100% for banning books in children's schools that depict oral sex or sodomy. So, no, not "the same crowd" in any way, shape, or form, but the straw man argument is once again telling that you don't have a leg to stand on in this particular argument.
I'll probably regret this comment, but the whole 'voted in favor of men crushing women in sports' is a good example of the gross oversimplifications often used to make everything us vs them.

There's something like 10 trans athletes out of 500,000+ in the NCAA, and despite what the dumbest senator would like you to believe there are not entire high school teams of boys playing in girls leagues. There's lots of room to develop reasonable policies around this (let young kids play whatever, find ways to evaluate if an athlete has a competitive advantage due to physical development in certain age groups, draw a line for scholarship athletes at a certain level, etc.), but instead of even trying to even have those discussions it's become this massive polarized issue that literally decided some elections while being something that affects almost no one. And even if you might not agree with my specific take on that, it's dumb to think that I or anyone else wants physically developed men playing women's sports because some senators voted that way.

You can apply 'the same crowd' in dozens of ways to make anyone sound stupid and extreme, but most people's views are far more complex and nuanced than that. And the more distracted people are fighting amongst themselves the less attention they pay to what's going on with the people actually pulling the strings.

It's the cultural and political implications. Society has become so crazy that EVERY Democrat senator is in favor of men kicking women's asses in sport and changing and showering with them. Even if a Democrat voter doesn't support this wackiness and societal perversion on a personal level, they directly vote in support of it becoming policy. The most recent dem scotus appointee thinks only a biologist can define what a woman is. It's insanity. The fringe became the mainstream on the left and dudes like Bill Maher are freaking out over it.

It's not about the rarity of men in women's sports, it's about the wide scale acceptance and support for it on the left.

I care about what things will be like in 10 yrs when my 4 yr old daughter is 14. Will things be even crazier and more absurd??? Or will modern leftists realize they went too psycho and self correct?

I dont know what's in your pre-workout, but you should probably cut back a little.

Kids are a game changer. A switch flips for most of us. Things we wouldn't have otherwise really cared about become of utmost importance because now there is a very direct and personal concern for the future world they will inherit. As a girl dad, I despise the modern democrat party and platform and all of the nonstop pushing of wokeness and absurdity in Hollywood and media more than I ever would have. When I see some jacked male crushing a woman's face in the octagon or some kid lapping young wonen in track or flinging them to the ground on the basketball court or spiking a volleyball into their faces I genuinely become enraged. I wonder why men (fathers) aren't coming down from the stands and putting a physical stop to it to be honest. I would NEVER let that happen to my girl. I would kill for her and die for her if I had to, so you better believe I will kick some ass and do a short stint in city jail if I have to.

Society has become so crazy that EVERY GOP senator voted against letting 6 year olds play soccer with their friends. Almost like you can paint either view as extreme and there's room for something in the middle. (FWIW I think the Supreme Court thing is beyond dumb.)

As I mentioned earlier, our politics have become so fragmented that every issue turns into two party views that are 180 degrees apart from each other. Most people don't see the world as that binary and would be happy with solutions somewhere in the middle, but neither party seem willing to do that.

As of one of the two people on this thread who has actually seen the movie, y'all are blowing this way out of proportion. It's an average retelling of Snow White.

While Gal Gadot is very attractive, part of the reason she is no longer considered the forest in the land is that her beauty is only skin deep. The Magic Mirror notes that Snow White is genuine and kind to everyone and that is what puts her over the top as fairest in the land.

I personally think the idea that how you treat people is important and there is more to beauty than just looks is a good message.

It's more about the actresses in these roles, the hatred that they have for normal traditional families and gender roles. You have to admit, there is no way the big producers and execs wouldn't have preferred this crazy actress just keep her mouth shut. She is directly responsible for at least millions in lost revenue and nothing can convince me otherwise.

Dude, every conservative I know just wants their children to inherit a world that isn't completely unrecognizable from the one they were fortunate enough to enjoy.

Stop with the "but both sides" stuff. This sums it up nicely…

I used to vote strictly R, now sit pretty much in the middle, and voted for both parties in the last election. I'd like to see compromise in the middle that respects individuals and their rights while placing reasonable limits when needed, and both parties are failing miserably at that right now.

We're obviously not going to agree but appreciate the dialogue, have a good one.

The world you grew up in, assuming you are at least 25, had actresses commenting on politics all the time, at Democratic fundraisers, using their Oscar speeches to comment on politics, etc.

If anything, being exposed to some of this stuff, your kids are going to grow up with more empathy for others and not thinking that seeing gay people depicted on screen or whatever is nearly as taboo or as big of a deal as their parents do.

That, and if you have a problem with two, same sex cartoons kissing in front of your kids, you should have the same problem with two, heterosexual cartoons kissing on screen. Anything else is either hypocritical or the mindset of the religious right trying to bend the world to their morals and their liking.

All values are not equal. All morals are not equal. I'm the religious right trying to bend the world to my morals where men and women getting married and having kids is the ideal. I don't want to have to explain to my 3, 4, and 7 year old kids why two dudes are kissing in a kid movie. To equate that to a man and women kissing is just plain absurd. We shouldn't teach kids no values, and we shouldn't teach kids that all values are equal. Kids should be taught good values. That was obvious not that long ago.

Also, it's so ridiculously rich that producers of content for kids go out of their way to inject gay crap into kid content in order to normalize it as you describe, then when it's noticed, say how dare you make a big deal of it. It is being done intentionally, and then the reaction is called a culture war. Gaslighting defined.

As far as I recall, this thread was about the movie, and a significant portion of these posts don't even pertain to themes or scenes from the movie unless I am missing something. I don't know what is a worse beating, reading a gameday thread on premium or reading the argument for/against woke on entertainment threads.

The true answer is that no kid has two moms or two dads. That's reality. A kid is born because of a sperm and an egg. Maybe the kid is raised by two women or two men, but every kid has out there somewhere a mom and a dad.

What I'll tell my kids when they ask is (after the true answer above) that that's not the way God intended things to be, but that we still treat people with love.

That question wasn't as "gotcha" as I would imagine you thought it was.

Here's the thing.
-Was this a great movie? No.
-Is Marc Webb a great director? Probably not. (Though 500 Days of Summer MIGHT be my favorite of all time. Sentimentality and such.)
-Did unhinged people, that were NEVER going to see the movie, make it a shtshow from the beginning bc of races of people? Yes.
-Did all of that transpire into a bunch of people who were NEVER going to see the movie dissecting every frame looking for things to btch about? Absolutely.
-Were most of those people wrong about what made the final cut? Yes
-Do people REALLY care about what everybody they see on a screen says? Or are they just looking for people to cancel (while saying people who think what they think shouldn't be canceled?). Apparently.
-Should they? NO. Who cares? You did 20000 words about some random girl whose politics you disagree with. Should you be canceled over that? No.
Not a good movie. Won't be the last one Disney does. They've done plenty of quite good ones as well.

F16 exists for a reason (unfortunately). The rest of us can just discuss WHY a not great movie was just not great.

Here's the other thing.

Beauty and the Beast live action did $1.3BILLION, with a known star in Emma Watson, who is quite a left commenting actress. And people like you who never intended to see it TRIED to cancel it over something that was a nothing burger.

Why did it do $1.3B? Bc it was a well done movie. Should it have been canceled over things Emma Watson said? No. (But I'm sure you'd say yes today).

Did nobody actually care bc it was a well done movie? You've got the answer. (Except for the few F16ers.)

I would give people defending this movie -- either its casting or its quality -- more leeway if it wasn't a Disney remake of its own ALL-TIME CLASSIC that saved the studio and ushered in modern animation.

If some hack start-up did this, well ... that's life.

But Disney knows better and still did it. It's yet another example of the company purposely destroying Walt's legacy.

And I'll just answer this for you.

Walt Disney's "legacy" got slung through the mud earlier.

Walt Disney made his name with musical/dancing sequences, "Whistle While You Work" being on top of the list.

So, your problem now is a musical/dancing sequence? With some CGI/people of color involved?

You did not, in 13 seconds, gather anything from that clip.

(Other than a dunk from a movie you were NEVER going to see, from an extreme alt righter who was also looking for a dunk for whatever reason.)

No actual discussion of the movie whatsoever.

Let's see here. Walt Disney's "legacy" was animals wiping their ass all over everything while singing and dancing.

That was replaced by CGI dwarves and a few non white people singing and dancing.

Sure. I'm sure you're evaluating this objectively if this was the "travesty".
