Surprisingly, it was Adolf Hitler's favorite movie, even though the Nazis never succeeded in releasing it to the public in Germany. Instead, access to the film was tightly restricted. Only a handful of people, including Hitler and Goebbels, ever saw it during the Nazi era, as the regime had obtained private copies.

For starters, in my experience Progressive people tend to be more vocal in general. No matter the workplace (Hollywood or your typical corporate office), Progressives are the "squeeky wheel" looking to get greased. They just absolutely must bring attention to their Cause de Jour. I see it in my workplace, where everyone else just wants to go about their work but the virtue-signaling Progressive employee just has to bring everyone's attention the new committee for such-and-such, or the new calendar date that's been set aside to celebrate the contributions of such-and-such group.
This is a great point. When you combine that with the narcissistic personality disorder likely very present with most people that want to be super rich and famous (who also tend to be pretty good looking), it's the perfect recipe for a very abrasive and loathsome person.

Even back when the Oscars were genuinely fun for EVERYONE to watch, you just almost knew that Meryl Streep, or Susan Sarandon, or Tim Robbins, or some other bubble-dwelling elitist would use their precious opportunity to lecture down at the commoners and virtue signal to their fellow liberal buddies how awesome and compassionate they were. Hell, knowing what we know now, they were very likely being paid by USAID or NGO's or something to help boost the dem party.

But they still seemed like relatively normal people, who were mostly just being fake for indusrty clout. Now we have a bunch of super weird true-believing zealots who almost don't seem to know that a regular America exists. And they seem much dumber than prior generations of Hollywood.

Sorry, but this is REALLY REALLY weird to moat Americans (watch the interviews to get a taste of what I am talking about)...I just don't remember Hollywood people being like this in the 80's and 90's and 2000's.

I do think TCTTS has a point though...that there are a lot of actors in Hollywood who aren't super left leaning...it's just feels like 99% are liberal zealots because people on the left do tend to be so much more vocal and openly hateful/petty/vindictive.

Just kidding, I actually like the dude for the most part and consider him one of the GOAT contibuters on the Ent board and think it would be fascinating to hang with him in real life and discuss film and the industry in general. As much as I bag on Hollywood's politics and preachiness and hypocrisy, we share a lot of the same opinions when it comes to the actual entertainment side of things. And he is definitely not a liberal zealot...probably pretty centrist to slightly left leaning if I had to guess.

It's not even that...it is the way they are talking to each other and behaving in the interview clips I have seen. They come across as completely fake and soulless humans. Ariana moreso than the other actress. Super weird and fake.

And I'm sorry, but it IS weird to me how they just start stroking each others fingers and long finger nails. I would say that if it was a straight married couple doing the same in an interview. They don't just hold hands. You just have to see it.

Have you guys ever considered these derails wouldn't span multiple pages if you didn't have to argue with every single opinion you find wrong or annoying?

I admire all the effort TC brings to this board, and if you go back to the beginning of this current spat, someone was absolutely passive aggressively mocking him. But if he had just ignored those comments, then this thread would be way less of a beating for all involved.

And I don't mean to single him out, there are several posters on continually on both sides of these arguments who can't just let people not agreeing with them or posting controversial ideas go. For example, I probably agree with atmag's political views around 90% of the time. The 10% of the time I don't though, I don't try to convince him he's wrong, because nobody has ever convinced that guy he's wrong of anything in the 15 years I've been on this forum. If you think they are wrong, just let them know, and be done with it. As we have seen over the past few years, nobody is going to change their minds. And some people here just like to stir the pot.

I haven't posted on this thread in five days.

And won't again after this one.

[And you won't derail this into a thread about you. -Staff]

Only did $1.5 million yesterday on discount Tuesday. 65% drop from last week. That puts it on pace for a 60% week 2 drop.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say we see a sub $10 million weekend with Minecraft coming out and then maybe a sub $1 million weekday next week. If it tracks like The Little Mermaid, it'll top out right at $100 million domestic. Assuming a 60/40 break with international receipts, that's right around $250-$260 million total.

Convenient how you left out the part where the "tons of money" prediction was from last AUGUST, before all the latest drama and Disney basically abandoned the movie. Or where I was CONTINUALLY saying in this thread that it had the CHANCE to make just under $500m IF reviews were good/it had legs. I didn't say it was going to succeed, I simply said there was still opportunity for it not to fail.

Never mind that I also even personally rooted for it to fail multiple times in this thread as a message to Disney, re: these dumb, soulless, live-action remakes.

But you guys of course only read/quote what you want to. Subtlety, nuance, and context clues have never been the strong suit of those constantly on the attack.

It's working...

I expect Lilo & Stitch to be great based on the first trailer. If they knock it out of the park with that one I expect them to keep steam rolling out live action remakes.

Which is sort of a shame. Other than Pixar, does Disney really produce any "New" content anymore? Or is it purely in copyright protection mode nowadays?
TCTTS
How long do you want to ignore this user?

I forgot about Lilo & Stitch, and yeah it's currently tracking incredibly well/will likely be a huge success (based on actual, current tracking data, though I'm not making any concrete claims, lest anyone starts obsessively quoting me again after the fact).

Disney technically does originals here and there through 20th Century Studios, which they acquired in 2018, but even most of those titles are IP/copyright driven. Looking at the upcoming slate across both studios, outside of Pixar movies, I count TWO original movies currently scheduled between now and 2027, haha. Both 20th Century Studios dramas from notable directors. Otherwise, yeah, literally everything Disney is making is either Pixar or based on a franchise they already own.
