Tesla truck at Trump Tower? Yeah, that's not an accident, that's an anti Musk/Trump "incident"

The timing of this and the New Orleans and New York Subway incidents all seems suspicious to me.

Lets see what else happens today.

Don't mean to rain on your parade but EV in general and Tesla in particular are actually less likely than ICE cars to have non-crash related fires.

Tesla has also faced scrutiny over vehicle fires. However, electric vehicles (EVs) are generally less likely to catch fire than traditional gasoline-powered cars. Since 2014, there have allegedly been 83 fatalities linked to Tesla fires, and reports indicate 218 fire incidents involving Tesla vehicles between 2013 and early 2024.

Despite these incidents, Tesla vehicles still have a lower fire risk than cars with internal combustion engines.

Those batteries burn hot and a lot. Once it catches there's no putting it out with the water. Water actually makes it worse with those batteries.

Several reasons a car might catch on fire include, but aren't limited to:

Severe oil leaks that cause the engine to lose so much oil it no longer has a safe amount and overheats.
Forgotten flammable materials under the car's hood, such as rags or paper towels used for cleaning.
Overheated brakes can cause tires and brake pads to catch on fire.
A lack of maintenance could cause rubber hoses and seals to wear out and leak flammable liquids.
Dangerous modifications, like cheap parts or careless labor, could result in disaster.

So, basically, ICE vehicles catch fire because they are old, poorly maintained, and abused.

Teslas catch fire because it's an inherent risk of EVs

And it's worse, because an ICE fire can be contained and controlled, an EV fire, not so much

Have you sene the amount of hate spewed at musk and trump recently?

It would be a coincidence to have a cyber truck, perhaps the most recognizable musk product, end up on fire underneath a trump hotel porte-cochere.

And the alternative that someone was both smart enough and persistent enough to track down a cyber truck, know where it was headed, booby trap it, and time a fire (implying remote detonation) seems more likely? You've seen too many spy movies.

ETA The greatest property damage here is neither Musk nor Trump, but rather the person that owns the vehicle. Seems like an awfully inefficient way to send a message.

Reading the info on the other models seemingly every Mercedes made from 2021-2023 was recalled for fire related fixes. Not old and probably not poorly maintained.

Can you run that stat as a percentage of EVs and ICE vehicles on the road? It might not look the same.

Dems accuse Elon of being the "shadow President."

They claimed victory over Musk during the budget fight a couple weeks ago:

example: Newsweek Article

So yeah, for a Musk Cyber Truck to catch fire outside a Trump hotel is quite a coincidence.

No but you can. I cited a source that probably makes money on vehicle fires that says EV are generally less likely to be fire hazards. Feel free to find a source proving mine wrong.

I understand, but the stats that you quote to support your claim are just total number of fires and cannot be used to support that one is more likely to produce fires than the other. So, the stats you provide are useless and possibly misleading. Just suggesting you could do a better job of supporting your claim.

Then you'll need a fake id and forged proof of insurance because they're going to have the renter's info. Major risk for the perpetrator.

It's not the frequency of the fires, it's the type/danger they represent. And since they are so 'infrequent' it sure seems odd this happened right in front of Trump Tower Vegas etc, just a few hours after an EV was used in a mass murder/terrorist attack in New Orleans.
