It is a very secure platform. But shouldn't be used for operational/secret/TS information.
It uses the Signal Protocol which is open source, and there have not been any huge red flags(that I know of). It is a very mature system for Secure End-to-End encryption. Similar to a VPN, but just for the messages.
No one outside of whoever is in the group or single individuals for direct messages can decrypt the messages.
This algorithm is used to generate new keys for every message, ensuring that if an attacker compromises a key, only the messages encrypted with that specific key are compromised, not future or past messages.
And also, message self delete after a predetermined period of time. On this group chat, it was set to 4 weeks.
