Feel free to try to point out which part I made up. Sorry you don't like facts.

It's a fact that this is being done only because Trump wants a "more luxurious ride"?

That may be your perception, but that is far from fact.

And I predict that the plane will NOT go to the Trump library but will instead be used on an ongoing basis for US VIP transport. Which would not be a waste but instead a heck of a a deal to add capacity and redundancy.

It is an extra plane in addition to the existing VC-25's. It's unnecessary.

That's an indisputable fact.

It will apparently have Trumps preferred paint scheme, a modification (among others) paid for by us.

That's a fact.

It's a less capable platform that what we already have. The chief differences other than that are the the paint scheme and interior finishings.

That's a fact.

It's my opinion that Trump is spending extra money on this plane because he wants a more luxurious ride with his preferred paint job.

By "my opinion" you mean you made it up. Thanks for admitting finally.

Man, the paint scheme really gets under peoples skin.

Here's a little hint, the two replacement planes will be in the Trump livery.

Trump specified, Biden changed it, Trump changing it back.

Yes, a judge will issue a TRO to paint according to Biden. Yes, Congress critters will cry for the old colors because we can only have the livery chosen by Jackie.

Trumps livery is awesome and will make the plane even more of a statement for POTUS when traveling.

So long as congress can engage in insider trading, I think it's perfectly fine for a president to accept such a gift

The influence/bribe element of this isn't a good look but that's not the part I dislike most about this. It's taking an unnecessary plane and paying to modify it purely because Trump wants a more luxurious ride with his preferred paint job. It's ridiculous.

Awwwww poor baby. They just committed 1.2 trillion in Americans

How is the influence / bribe element "not a good look"? Is it better diplomacy to drop $400 million in bombs to gain influence?

And it's a legit jumping to a bizarre conclusion to say Trump just wants a more luxurious ride. Believe a poster earlier in this thread discussed maintenance and reliability of the current 2 747s.

Seems to me that if you don't like Trump then you simply cannot like even the most simplest of things such as securing a great deal on an interim transportation solution.

They're keeping the existing 747's. This plane is an extra expenditure purely because he wants a more luxurious ride. That's not a "great deal", it's waste.

Lmao. 1.2 trillion in investments with our biggest businesses

Great deal to me Felicia

Go cry elsewhere

So A&M shouldn't be associated with Qatar but Trump should accept a $400MM plane from Qatar to use as AFO and personal use later on, which one is it MAGAs?

Can you point to the issue of Trump getting a good deal on the airplane?

You could also point to, as someone mentioned earlier, the billion they spent on our fancy base there and the hundreds of millions they spend annually covering (with others) 60% of the operating costs of the base.

But yea, this plane is totally going to corrupt 79 yo Trump who has literally done nothing but put America first, made the world safer and survived an assassins bullet whilst giving up his billionaire lifestyle.

Yep, this well painted highly luxuries ride is all he cares about and just proves how big a threat to democracy he truly is.

This thread delivers the humor.

A guy at work was talking about this in the break room today. He said he read an article in the paper that said it was going to end up costing hundreds of millions of dollars to get the plane how Trump wants it and to install everything needed to make the plane workable as Air Force One. It all seems so unnecessary to me. Nothing wrong with the planes currently used as Air Force one other than they are old. They still pass all safety regulations and work as intended.
GAC06

Agreed it's wasteful but they're not going to try to make it the same as the real presidential 747's. There's no way he'd get it in time to use it if they tried

It's likely that whatever happens, Trump will never fly on the lux jet.

Even if Boeing could shove the job to the front of the line, it would take around five years to convert it to meet the safety, security and technical requirements for a president to even step on the craft.

And unless Trump dumps the Constitution and seizes extended control of the government, the plane could never be removed from a secure government airbase, which he would no longer be qualified to use.
