For all the concern particularly regarding the plane's coms and possible security risks, I have been told a system of Starlink, Signal and Truth Social will ensure Trump remains in direct links with all his cabinet members.
Oh so you are good with it then? As Trump voter I expect better of him.MelvinUdall said:Hullabaloonatic said:

It's literally an untraceable direct deposit account to Trump. Any other president would be impeached for that alone but to MAGA it's just "good business."
Democrats crying about funneling of funds to a politician, is laughable.

On the record quote:Conversations between Qatar and the US over an AF1 plane are in fact happening. That alone is ill advised.Quote:
But Ali Al-Ansari, Qatar's Media Attach to the U.S., told POLITICO the reports are "inaccurate."
"The possible transfer of an aircraft for temporary use as Air Force One is currently under consideration between Qatar's Ministry of Defense and the U.S. Department of Defense, but the matter remains under review by the respective legal departments, and no decision has been made," he said.

Let me know when this latest tantrum has any actual substance. If all he does is park it at his library then who cares

I don't see an issue with it. Unless there is some obvious quid pro quo this is a nothing burger.

So this is apparently a 747-8 - so it'll be modified to VC-25B configuration? I wonder why this is many quicker than modifying whatever 747-8 has been designated for this role?

Don't heads of state give each other things all of the time?
But, yes, even with that...this is really bad optics.
Ideally, the library will donate it for use in the JD Vance 2032 re-election campaign. It could even still be serviceable when Barron enters politics.ABATTBQ11 said:BigRobSA said:

Yeah, but they remain government property for the most part. They can be transferred to a presidential library, but what's a presidential library going to do with a plane?

Jonathan Karl, why post here after your initial false reporting

The manufactured outrage is quite amusing on this thread; HOWEVER, the jet from Qatar is NOT a gift to Trump, but instead is a gift to "the American public"- at least for now.

Looking at some of the folks chiming in and this must have been the lead story on ActBlue today.
Even though within hours the OP has been shown to be at best misleading if not abjectly false.
The United States is looking at a stopgap fix for POTUS transportation, a cost effective one at that, and one Trump nor any of his businesses nor orgs can benefit from, and the clamoring is how this is some sort of bribe that will compromise Trump.
Appreciate the humor on this one, particularly those who refuse to look at the facts and circumstances and applicable law here but still cannot get past Orange Man Bad.

Stopgap? There's no operational reason to retire the current fleet. And since when to president start to take 747s with them when they leave office?

You do realize that a significant portion of Americans exist that don't consider themselves Democrats, didn't drink Trump's koolaid, and don't tolerate corruption…from either major party? I thought we were "draining swamps" here?
Getting a free airplane would seem to be in line with draining the swamp.
Buying the airplane for 3x value from a company owned by POTUS family members would be swampy.
There are not a significant portion of Americans that hate Trump but don't consider themselves MAGA. Believe that call them concerned moderates and they are a dying breed.
If you cannot get behind Trump fully at this point, then you hate America (in my opinion).
You'll see how much they're dying out in the midterms. Looking to be a blood bath for MAGA.
