Just returned from Center Point. I arrived last Tuesday and spent 5 days coordinating medical care/first aid for first responders and volunteers. I don't know if it made the news but the Center Point Volunteer Fire Department was completely flooded. Within 2 days of the flooding volunteers had completely restored the building to a usable space. The devastation to riverside property is unimaginable. The outpouring of support from volunteers cannot be overstated. By Friday we had approximately 3000 people working. All of them had the supplies they needed because of donations. EMS staged an ambulance in Center Point. A mass casualty bus with ICU capability was sent. Law enforcement did a phenomenal job of traffic management. When I was leaving I told the fire chief I had never seen a response like this. He said "It's easy. We love each other "
Don't believe the news when they tell you that they don't need any more volunteers or help. My wife and I just showed up and found ways you help. Show up. Donate. They will be needing all of us for months.
