Honestly even if the wait is 9 months...if you don't have one, get one.

Highly recommend.

Not in any huge rush.

Just glad it cleared in time to shake it down/zero before class.

Second batch this year on a E-form 4 trust:

TBAC 22 Takedown - Certified July 18th
Ecco Canine - Certified Aug. 15th

Both approved on Aug. 29th

First batch this year took a little over 4 months from the earliest can purchased. Oddly, even though they didn't come in at exactly the same time, they all ended up being approved on the same day.

form 4 submitted Tuesday morning. Just got approval today. Right at 24 hours!

That is three suppressors submitted at separate times all approved within a month!

I just passed the 2 year mark at the end of August waiting for approval on a .22 rimfire can. I hate the federal government so much.

Damn that's rough. Have you called the ATF to ask about it?

I have not. I did not realize that you could talk to them. Does it actually help?

This. I would bet you have the same issue as I had, where ATF approved it and either never sent notice to your seller or the seller lost it.

For those buying… make sure you do Individual and not Trust.

This difference is getting it in a few days versus a few months

Just understand the limitations of buying as an individual if you choose to go that way.

First time purchaser here. I plan on using the suppressor on my hunting rifle and at the range. I don't have any family members that would want it if something happened to me. Would there be any benefit to setting up a trust vs buying as an individual? Thanks

In that situation, probably not. The main issue would be making sure the executor of your will understands that nobody is allowed to possess it if you pass away without paying another tax stamp and going through their own form 4. But you also can't legally store your rifle with the suppressor on it at somebody else's house or a lease camp and your buddies can't borrow it without you there. With a trust, in the future you could add a spouse or adult children as trustees allowed to possess it.

I was under the impression that upon death they can be transferred to heirs on a form 5 with no tax.

If so, that would be better. I was under the impression that the heir had to basically reapply through ATF including a new stamp, but I could be wrong.

Bought suppressor 11/23

Due to snafu form not complete until 3/24.

Form approved 8/31. Gun trust.

Email not seen until today. Not sure how I missed it but I had to search for eforms to find it. It did not go to my regular gmail inbox.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a PTR Vent 1 (suppressor). Submitted eForm 4 on Thursday 10/3 and approved this morning so a total of about 3 business days.

So I have an older trust and ordered a suppressor beginning of the year and they made everyone on the trust finger print and pic at the silencershop kiosk. I'm thinking about ordering another, will they have us do that again?

You can revoke the members of your trust, if it was written that way, and submit only with your name on it. I cannot remember the form name you have to submit it with but I have done this on last couple of stamps, less my first individual suppressor.
