Back in the day, there was no social media either. It is now a monstrosity.

Site plans have been submitted for a development at the corner of 2818 and Luther St. The plans include a boutique hotel, a gas station, a standalone 5,000 square foot restaurant building, and a Tim Hortons.

Confirmed my suspicions. No access to Luther. Access is gonna be a pain.

That seems like a mistake to not have access to Luther there.

The wife is a corn dog fanatic, and got one when we had to pay a visit to American Eagle recently.

It's only a mistake if you think the developer had an option to have an entrance from Luther.

From the university's point of view, having an entrance from Luther would have been a mistake.

I knew it was there in fall '93 and the mall was still newish

Mall opened in 1982. My older sibling worked there.

I was like 9 when it opened, and lived in the neighborhood behind Plantation Oaks. It had a McDonald's and a Chick-Fil-A. I think it had a pizza place - Sbarro, and that became Roman Delight later.

I thought the original pizza place was Giovanni's Pizza by the Slice.

It was. You'd be surprised what you can find on the Internet, maybe some really interesting guy made a timeline on Post Oak Mall referencing archived newspapers and tax listings, all for a comprehensive view on its life and times.

Met my wife at ROXZ...going on 38 years. What an awesome place. Loved playing pool and winning all my drinks for the night. Cashed in my beer cans for the week to pay cover. Red Bandanas, parachute pants...

It keeps people from blocking that poultry center traffic, as that's A&M property. This is a large development and so it will be easy to get in and out of from the Harvey Mitchell side.

More details on the new Mr. G's offering in SoCo .... from the Community Imact newsletter:

Quote:

Mr. G's Pizzeria owners are expanding their footprint with a new concept in south College Station.

What's happening: The new venture, g's Southside Italian Cafe, is expected to open in mid-July at Caprock Crossing. The new restaurant will operate separately from the longtime Bryan pizzeria while paying tribute to its roots.

What g's will offer: The cafe will offer breakfast, coffee, pastries, desserts, Italian dishes and select Mr. G's pizzas. Plans also include a full coffee bar, full-service bar, indoor and outdoor seating, and an ice cream counter.

Owner Susan Carnes said some of the menu will draw inspiration from recipes once served at Cenare, a former College Station restaurant operated by the late Mr. G's wife, Houda.

The larger kitchen will also allow the business to move much of its food preparation and production operations to the new location.

Before you go: Mr. G's Pizzeria will continue operating in Historic Downtown Bryan.
  • Soft opening in mid-July
  • 910 William D Fitch Parkway, College Station

You might be overestimating how much traffic goes to Poultry Science.

No, the shopping strip where Century 21 is, FastSigns, Myra's Framing, Chef Caos is. Anytime Fitness took over suites, one of which was previously occupied by Cenares.

Mrs. G's spicy pepperoni pasta at Cenare was one of my favorite dishes ever. Hope they add it to the menu.

No. It's a couple small tables out front. At least it was when it was Uptown Brunch.
