3 points and a trophy this week.
Not a bad game away to a good opponent. I'm a little biased, as I'm a Southampton fan as well, but we looked pretty good today. Not sure if the boys got tired or what but there was a stretch in the 2nd half where we lacked intensity...especially after the Ings goal.

I didn't watch the game super close. Had it on while I was making breakfast and the last 20 minutes on the treadmill. Looked like Southampton really was controlling the game for the first third or so.
Yeah, the first half was pretty boring and we ceded a ton of chances through some awful passing out of the back. Really picked it up in the second, but the last 15 minutes was cringey.

Definitely a good result for us although I'm really not liking the way VAR is figuring into so many matches already this season. Soccer just isn't a game meant to be dissected millimeter by millimeter to find minor infractions of the laws. I get that it's just enforcing what already on the books, but I wish it was limited to assessing violent conduct or other red card offenses and ball over the goal line situations.
I hate the rule and VAR but simply like that it worked out in our favor. I'd be pissed if if I was a city fan bc that was all accidental and Jesus had a heckuva goal.
I also don't like Aguero and Pep seemed to reconcile at the end too. This title race will be like walking a tightrope all the way through

Teams like City score a ton of their goals by constantly pushing boundaries, they will always be hurt by a system like VAR more than other teams. City and Liverpool both scored quite a few goals last season from marginally offside positions because making tight runs is a big part of both teams game. I have a feeling it will balance out over the season.

As grumpy as I was with him sitting out matches with "injuries" trying to force the Barcelona move, I really do like the fact he wasn't a big fan of signing with another English club because he didn't want to play against Liverpool. He's not redeemed in my book, but I do respect that.
That said, what a great bit of business his sale turned out to be, and watching Liverpool trounce Barca out of the Champions League then go on to win it without him was honestly the most satisfying schadenfreude I have ever experienced.

His sale financed everything we've been able to do the past several seasons and the successes we'll chasing this and subsequent seasons. My dislike for him has cooled off as I watched him struggle to even see the field the past two seasons. Hope he can revive his career and find some of his old form at Bayern, but I'm also glad he's not in the EPL.

Apparently we're on the verge of signing a new kit deal with Nike to start in the 2020-21 season. This has been brewing for a while, but it could and probably will be the biggest in the PL.

Torn on the Nike change. The money would be awesome, but I've really liked all the NB kits the past several years.
I bet the medical staff appreciates the job security. Guy is a talent that just can't stay fit.
