No idea. I only caught parts of the 2nd half.

But I watched all of the 1st and 1st half Leeds were clear and away the better team, but conceded before the half.

Sunday Results

Leeds 1-5 Crystal Palace. If you had told me after 30 minutes that the final scoreline was going to be 5-1, I would have agreed, but there is no way I would have thought Palace would have been the 5. Leeds absolutely dominated this match for the first have, always looking the threat. They were rewarded in the 21st minute with a Patrick Bamford goal off of a corner kick delivered by Brendan Aaranson. Leeds could have, should have, been up 2 or 3 to 0 going into the break, but they could not finish for more. Palace made them pay in stoppage time of the first half with a goal off a free kick knocked home by Marc Guehi. Palace came out in the second half and dominated, scoring in the 53rd (Ayew) and 55th (Eze) minutes to take control of the match. Leeds had no answer and Palace put salt in the Leeds wounds with two additional goals scored in the 63rd (Eduard) and 77th (Ayew) minutes. Leeds back four looked a mess, especially the two central defenders in Koch and Struijk, with Meslier being directly responsible for at least 2 of the goals himself. For Palace, they can now breath a bit of air as there is some space between them and the bottom three, but for Leeds, they drop back into the middle of the tight relegation battle.

Fantastic action yesterday for midweek games, really enjoyed the Leeds-Forest match. I hope both those clubs are able to stay up because the passion of their fanbases is really a wonderful addition to the EPL. The league is better with those two as a part of it.

Yesterday's results

I agree in wanting them to stay but seems like any of the other teams dropping would likely be "big" losses for the EPL...Leicester, Southampton, Everton.....? Don't see wolves or Bournemouth dropping but maybe i am wrong..?

I don't think that losing Southampton or Leicester would be a big loss.

Leicester has had a great 5 year run, but they don't have the historic following or success of a Leeds or Forest. Neither do Southampton. Everton would be a loss, given they are one of few EPL teams to not ever be relegated out of EPL (along with Man United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs?).

In my opinion EPL is better with Leeds and Forest as a part of it, but obviously it survived for many years without them.

Fair. I am aware of Leeds history but not as familiar with Forest.

Also realize some of these clubs have bigger followings but maybe not always apparent from tv / stadiums.

Hoping Leeds survive but they are not making it easy.

Another full weekend of EPL matches, meaning another busy weekend in the relegation battle. The name of this weekend is survive and scratch, as most the relegation battlers are playing top 10 clubs and will be looking to survive and scratch a point, maybe even knick a goal and claim a win. Relegation clubs will play today, Sunday and Monday, so lots of action available this weekend.

Saturday Matches

Everton v. Fulham (9:00am, Goodison Park, Peacock)--The Toffees are looking to continue their better form as they welcome a Fulham club to the northwest that has been struggling of late. Everton had claimed points from four matches in a row (going 1-0-3 for 6 points) before last weekend's 2-0 defeat at Manchester United. Fulham meanwhile will be looking to end a four match losing streak. Fulham have been a point factory for other relegation clubs over the past 5 matches, going 0-2-1 against bottom dwellers over that stretch, so Everton will be looking for an opportunity to claim all three points today.

Southampton v. Palace (9:00am, St. Mary's Stadium, Peacock)--This is our one "six-pointer" of the weekend, as Southampton welcomes Crystal Palace to the South Coast. Palace are still in the relegation battle, but just barely, as another win today should pull them well away from the bottom 3. Palace have gone 2-0 in their last two matches, both against other relegation battlers. So the Eagles will look to put the screws to another bottom dweller today, as the Saints are currently bottom of the table and have only won 2 points from their last 5 matches (0-3-2). The Saints really need to win these matches against relegation battlers if they have any hope of surviving.

Tottenham v. Bournemouth (9:15am, Hotspur Stadium, USA Network)--Bournemouth travel to the Capital City and will hope to nick a point of a Spurs clubs that is looking to claim a Champions League place for next season. Spurs are 2-0-2 over their last 4 and currently sit in 5th, just 3 points behind 3rd place Newcastle. Meanwhile Bournemouth have been playing better of late, going 3-2-0 over their last five, a run that has seen them go from the bottom three up to 15th. A point in London today would suit the Cherries just fine.

Wolverhampton v. Brentford (9:00am, Molineux Stadium, Peacock)--Wolves will entertain the Bees today in the Midlands, hoping to pull themselves closer to safety. Wolves currently sit in 13th, but are only 4 points from the bottom 3, and need to continue to rack up points to assure themselves a spot in next year's EPL. Brentford are still in the hunt for a European spot, but they have lost their last 2 against Newcastle and Manchester United, so the Bees will need to turn around their form today if thy want to hold on to their European aspirations.

Manchester City v. Leicester (11:30am, Etihad Stadium, NBC). I don't know that Leicester could have been handed a worse time to travel to Manchester for a match against a City club looking to catch Arsenal for the EPL title. City come in having won their last 5, while Leicester have only claimed one point over the same period. The Foxes look like a team destined for relegation, dropping like a stone down the rankings, so really playing well today and staying in the match might do more for their confidence going forward, as a big defeat looms as a real potential, having lost their last 4 to City.

Sunday Matches

West Ham v. Arsenal (8am, London Stadium, USA Network). The Hammers will welcome the Gunners to East London for a huge London Derby. Arsenal will come in hoping to claim all three points as they try and hold off a hard charging City club looking to take the Gunners spot at the top of the table. West Ham have been racking up more points of late, going 2-2-1 in their last 5 for 7 points, a form that has seen them climb up to 14th place, but only 3 points clear of the bottom 3. Points will be difficult for the Hammers, as they have not won a match against Arsenal in their last five, going 0-4-1 against the Gunners the last three years, including a 3-1 loss at the Emirates in December.

Nottingham Forest v. Manchester United (10:30am, City Ground, USA Network). Forest and United will renew an old rivalry as United visit Nottingham for the first time since 1999. The two clubs did play at Old Trafford in December, a 3-0 victory for the Red Devils. Forest really need to turn around their form, as their recent struggles (0-4-1 in last five) have seen them drop into the bottom 3. United meanwhile are in a three team race for the last two Champion League spots, currently sitting in 4th place, behind 3rd place Newcastle on goal differential. Big home game for Forest, who are in desperate need of points.

Monday Match

Leeds United v. Liverpool (2:00pm, Elland Road, USA Network). Leeds welcome Liverpool to what will be an electric Monday night crowd at Elland Road. Leeds have been up and down of late, but have claimed enough points to get out of the bottom three, sitting in 16th, but only 2 points clear of the bottom three. Liverpool have not been good as of late (or really all season) going 0-2-2 over their last 4, although that did include a 2-2 draw against league leading Arsenal. Leeds claimed a big 2-1 win over Liverpool in October when the two teams met at Anfield, so the Whites will see this as an opportunity to claim another three points against the Reds.

Enjoy the Weekend!

Some great action over the weekend, which ultimately led to some separation in the table. We have at least one team that will no longer be a part of the relegation watch as Palace have all but secured their safety, moving 9 points clear of 18th, while Wolverhampton and an upstart Bournemouth side are closing in on safety as well. We have one more match today with relegation implications as Leeds will look to climb further from the bottom three when they host Liverpool.

Weekend Results

Everton 1-3 Fulham. This was one of the more surprising results of the weekend, as Everton came into this home match in relatively good form, while Fulham had been struggling as of late. But Fulham took it to the Toffees from the onset and were rewarded with a goal from Harrison Reed in the 22nd minute. Everton changed tactics a bit after the goal, and put more pressure on the Fulham midfield, they were rewarded in the 35th minute when Pahlinha was disposed in the midfield and Dwight McNeil slotted in a one-timer to level the score. The last 10 minutes of the first half were all Everton, as Fulham struggled with the pressure. But the second half was all Fulham's, as they found a way around the midfield pressure and continued to find paths into the Everton penalty box, resulting in a 51st minute goal for Harry Wilson and a 68th minute goal for Daniel James. Everton looked a team without answers in the second half, which does not bode well for the Toffees down the stretch.

Southampton 0-2 Palace. Eberechi Eze could not find the field when Patrick Viera was leading Palace, but he has become a star under Roy Hogdson, scoring 3 goals in the last two matches, including both goals against a hapless Southampton squad who look destined for relegation. Eze slotted home goals in the 54th and 68th minutes to give Palace all they would need, as the Eagles were happy to sit back and soak up pressure from a Southampton squad who looked out of ideas. With the win Palace will now be out of the relegation battle while Southampton sit in 20th and appear destined for Championship level football next season.

Tottenham 2-3 Bournemouth. Wow, incredible match with a wild finish. Bournemouth travelled to North London hoping to claw out a point against a Spurs squad vying for a top 4 finish, but instead, the Cherries found themselves with all three points when Dango Ouattara scored his first EPL goal in the 95th minute, helping Bournemouth to a 3-2 victory over the Spurs. Tottenham looked in control of the match early, and when Son Heung-Min scored in the 14th minute it looked like the game could be a route. But the Cherries leveled in the 31st minute thanks to a nifty Dominic Salanke pass to Matias Vina. Salanke put the visitors ahead on his own right after the break for a surprising 2-1 lead. Tottenham were desperate for the equalizer, and it finally came in the 88th minute from the unlikely foot of Arnaut Danjuma, whose left footed shot beat Neto to the bottom left corner. If either team were to score the winner after that it looked for sure that it was to be the Spurs, but the Cherries countered on a breakaway and Salanke again supplied the assist across goal to a wide open Dango Ouattara for the winner. Great end to end action in this one, woth a watch if you haven't already done so.

Wolverhampton 2-0 Brentford. Wolves look like a club who know they are staying up, and are playing their best football of the season, as they dispatched of Brentford in relative ease to claim a vital three points at home. Goals from Diego Costa in the 27th minute and Hwang Hee-Chan in the 69th were more than enough for the Wolves to thoroughly outclass the Bees. Brentford only mustered 3 goals on target, and rarely looked like a threat to the high flying Wolves, who are one victory away themselves from being removed from the relegation battle.

Manchester City 3-1 Leicester. City eased their way to a comfortable win over Leicester, who now appear in real danger of relegation. Three first half goals for City (one for Stones and two for Haaland) was all the offense City would need, as they thoroughly outclassed the Foxes for the first 45 minutes. The second half was little more than a scrimmage, as City took out most of their top players in anticipation of midweek Champions league matches, allowing Kelechi Iheanacho to score a consolation goal in the 75th minute. Leicester had some other opportunities to make the game interesting, but they couldn't ever find a second goal and a way back into the match.

Sunday Matches

West Ham 2-2 Arsenal. The Hammers, safety hopes were raised and the Gunners' title hopes were greatly lessened in a wild four minute period during this back and forth match which saw both clubs claim a point, a point that was a just reward for a resilient Hammers side. Arsenal came out of the gates looking the dominant side, and two early goals made it look like a blowout, as Gabriel Jesus (7th minute) and Martin Odegaard (10th minute) gave the Gunners a 2-0 lead. But West Ham proved resilent and battled back, scoring on a Sad Benrahma penalty kick in the 33rd minute thanks to a reckless challenge by Gabriel Magalhes. With Arsenal up 2-1 early in the second half, Bukayo Saka had a chance to give the Gunners a comfortable 3-1 lead, but he failed to convert a penalty kick following a Michail Antonio hand ball, missing the pk wide to the left. Just two minutes later West Ham leveled the score at 2-2 thanks to a Jarrod Bowen left footed shot off a Thilo Kehrer through ball. Both sides had chances to claim a winner, but neither could finish their chances, and had to settle for a point each.

Nottingham Forest 0-2 Manchester United. This matched looked like a great chance for Forest to snatch some points from a United club who is currently battling significant injuries and an overcrowded fixture list. But the Red Devils travelled to Nottingham and thoroughly outplayed a Forest club who were fortunate that the score was only 2-0. Antony scored the first goal in the 32nd minute and then provided the assist for a Diego Dalot goal in the 76th, providing more than enough offense against a Forest side that registered 0 shots on goal for the match. Forest will need to find ways to impact games and create chances if they are to avoid relegation.

Today's Match:

Leeds spit the bit and got hammered by a Liverpool club that wasn't hammering anyone on the road. Leeds defense, or lack thereof, is a serious cause for concern heading into the last stretch. They were dices up way to easily be Liverpool's press and counter game. It's not the match which will make or break Leeds, but getting beat a collective 11-2 in your last two matches, both at home, does not bode well for the future.

The chances are dwindling for the relegation battlers to make their move out of the relegation zone and to safety. Most clubs have 7 games remaining, so desperation mode will start kicking in. This weekend we have two six-pointers and we also have quite a few matches with relegation battlers traveling to top 10 clubs, meaning it will be a scratch and claw kind of weekend for many of the relegation teams. They will all be trying to emulate Bournemouth's victory from last weekend, when the Cherries hung around and fought their way back to a dramatic 302 win over Tottenham. Palace have been removed from the relegation battle, and Wolverhampton and Bournemouth are really one more win away from securing their place out of the relegation fight. Should be an interesting weekend:

Weekend Matches:

Friday Match
Arsenal v. Southampton (2pm, Emirates Stadium, USA). The Saints currently sit in 20th place, but only 4 points behind 17th place Everton, so they are not out of the battle by any stretch. The club from the south coast does need to start finding points however, if they are to climb their way out. A trip to the point desperate EPL leaders in Arsenal is probably not the best place to right the Saints' ship, but that is the position they find themselves in. Arsenal have drawn their last two matches, allowing Man City to climb to within 4 points of the Gunners, so they will be licking their chops to claim all three points against lowly Southampton, who have lost their last 3 matches and have not won a match in their last 6. The Saints did claim a draw when the clubs met in October at St. Mary's, a result the Saints would be happy to duplicate on Friday.

Saturday Matches
Fulham v. Leeds United (6:30am, Craven Cottage, USA). Leeds United are currently in 16th place, two points clear of the bottom three, but the Whites' last two matches, both at home, have to be cause for real concern, as they have been outscored 11-2 by Crystal Palace and Liverpool. Fulham for their part had been on a bad run, losing four in a row, before last weekend's 3-1 win over Everton. Leeds will need to shore up their defense if they are to right the ship and stay out of the bottom three. Fulham claimed a 3-2 win at Elland Road when the clubs met in October.

Crystal Palace v. Everton (9am, Selhurst Park, Peacock). Like Southampton and Leeds, Everton travel to the Capital City this weekend hoping they can find some answers to a recent run of poor form. Everton have dropped their last 2 matches after claiming points in three in a row, a run that has them out of the bottom three, but only on goal differential. Palace meanwhile have been in great form, winning their last three (all over relegation battlers) to pull themselves out of the relegation fight. A win over their fourth relegation battler in a row on Saturday would all but clinch their safety. Everton did grab a 3-0 win over Palace in October, so they will head to London with some confidence.

Leicester City v. Wolverhampton Wanderers (9am, King Power Stadium, Peacock). Wolves will make the short trip to Leicester for a Midlands Derby full of intrigue on Saturday, as Wolverhampton look to secure their safety against a Leicester side who are trying to find their way out of the bottom three. Leicester have claimed just one point from their last 9 matches, a run of form that has placed the Foxes in 19th place, two points below safety. Meanwhile Wolves have won their last two and claimed points in three in a row, a run that has brought the club to 13th place, 7 points above 17th. The Wolves could all be assure their safety with a win over Leicester on the weekend, The Foxes absolutely obliterated the Wolves 4-0 when the clubs met in October, so they will be looking to end their bad run of form with a repeat performance on Saturday.

Liverpool v. Nottingham Forest (9am, Anfield, USA). Forest will also hit the road this weekend, seeking to scratch out a point or three against a Liverpool side that has been very erratic of late. Will Forest face the Liverpool side that went to Leeds on Monday and destroyed the Whites 6-1, or will they get a Liverpool club that had gone 0-2-2 in their four matches prior to Monday? Forest have not won a match in their last 10, going 0-7-3 over that stretch, a run that has seen the club fall into the bottom three, but they still have hope, as they are level on points with 16th place Everton. Forest did claim one of their best wins of the season against Liverpool when they won 1-0 at City Ground back in October, so they will be keen to look for more points at Anfield on Saturday.

Sunday's Match
Bournemouth v. West Ham (8am, Vitality Stadium, Peacock). The Cherries will welcome the Hammers to the South Coast for a match between two teams who are close to pulling themselves out of the relegation battle for good, but both need to claim another couple of wins to be sure, and a win on Sunday would distance them from each other as well. Bournemouth have won three of their last four matches, and have climber their way from the bottom of the table to 14th, 6 points clear of the bottom three. West Ham meanwhile have gone 2-1-2 for 8 points in their last five, a run that has climbed them up to 15ht place, two points behind the Cherries. This is a big match for both clubs, and a win would really help both teams in the battle for safety.

Enjoy a great weekend!

I think Southampton is toast. I think Leeds needs some points or they're absolutely getting overtaken, which the last 2 games have probably destroyed their psyche.
