Spurs fan here but root for Mavs when playing anyone but Spurs. Spurs/Mavs would be a toss up IMO. Probably won't matter as I don't see anyone in the west beating the Lakers in a 7 game series, if they remain healthy.

Just my 2 cents, but I don't see the Lakers beating Dallas, San Antonio, and the East winner (all probably on the road) in 3 consecutive series.

I couldn't see any team doing that, actually.

Home court is going to be really important this year, I have a feeling. Again, the big advantage for the Spurs is that they don't have to play a team like Dallas, LA, Miami, Boston, Chicago, or Orlando in the 2nd round.

2nd round is going to be a dogfight in every series except the Spurs vs OKC. The Thunder are still another piece or two away from being a serious contender.

I don't think OKC is going to be an easy out at all. Depending on how well Perkins fits into their lineup on short notice (he should start playing within the next few days), they become much tougher inside.

More like root for anyone playing the Mavs. Except Lakers.

Also, got a nice 7 game cushion on Dallas and 5 on the Cs. Win against Dallas and it might be time to start getting the bench some more minutes. Can't risk another injury.

Ain't gonna happen beyond Splitter, imo. The rotation is going to get much shorter. There won't be much experimentation.

I didn't say it would be a stroll in the park, but if you think they are ready to take down any of the other teams I mentioned (including the Spurs)...I have news for you....they aren't and it won't be that close.

Thunder still lack enough veteran leadership.

Spurs beat soundly by the Heat.

54-13

Good News: BOSTON LOST TO THE NETS!

15 games remaining--and the Spurs would have to finish 10-5 or worse to even have a remote chance at blowing their lead for HCA.

it's no longer about HCA, it's about playing good basketball and going into the playoffs with some confidence and momentum, and most of all health.

just keep playin, spurs.

I think it is good for them to get hit in the mouth like that, even a couple times in the last week and half, especially for those younger guys.

I think they will be just fine. We should all have been watching these guys long enough to not get worried over a couple of blowouts.

Back to a 7 game lead after Mavs loss tonight to Portland. Looks like the Lakers have the inside track to the #2 seed based on the way they are playing right now and the fact that they only have 4 road games left.

I hope the Mavs don't fall to a #4 seed.

Interesting. Dallas has a lot of depth. I'd rather see them duke it out with the Lakers than have to play them in the second round.

People, Dallas is 3.5 games up on OKC. They arent dropping to 4th.

Ironically it could almost be better for the Spurs to lose to the Mavs next game. Much better to let the Mavs/Lakers be #2/3 now that the #1 is locked up. A W is always nice though. Can't really lose.

The only way to lose is to lose a player to injury.

I agree with aggie93. I almost would rather the Spurs lose the game to give the Mavs a better shot at the #2 seed.

Although, I won't really feel sorry for Jason Terry and Mark Cuban if they end up at #3 and get tossed by the Lakers in game 5 at Staples...so a Spurs win isn't all that bad either.

55-13 after beating the Mavs.

Need to go 10-4 to reach 65 wins.

Next two games are at home against Charlotte and Golden State.

Much needed win for me after Ags ugly loss in the dance. Pop once again demonstrated why he is the top coach. Team well prepared after embarrassing loss to Miami.

In the Mavs game, Jefferson only logged 18 minutes. Not sure if this is b/c of favorable matchups or RJ's poor play. Neal was getting the crunch-time minutes.

No tim tonight. Splitter will start. First day off for tim this year.

Wow, Spurs crush the Bobcats and the starters got a ton of rest.

56-13

Notable:

Duncan was rested and did not play. Ginobili, McDyess, and Blair all played less than 20 minutes. Parker and Hill each played 31 minutes.

Novak had 19 points on 5-8 three point shooting in only 17 minutes. Damn!

4 of the 5 leading scorers for the Spurs were bench players.

James Anderson only got 3 minutes (wtf?)

Splitter got to play half the game.

Spurs hit 17 three pointers, going 50% from downtown.

HAHA, check out this from the AP:

Duncan supposedly injured in the 1st quarter of the Golden State game tonight. No mention how serious the injury might be, but they said he had to be helped off the floor.

I hope they're just being overly cautious. It's only a month until the playoffs.

ewww, sprained his left ankle...the replay looked ugly, so hopefully it was one of those "not as bad as it looked" injuries
sharkenleo
How long do you want to ignore this user?
let's hope so.

on the bright side, the bench will get more minutes to get in playoff shape. we won't miss duncan too much, i don't think. at least not for a few games.

If the Spurs win this game, they only have to go 6-6 to lock the west 1st seed.
