Portland will be a tough matchup for the Spurs. Hopefully Splitter continues his ridiculous defense against Lamarcus.

Agreed. Really didn't want to face eithe Houston or Portland, but if the Spurs can play like they have in the later part of this series, specifically game 7, I think they'll be able to take Portland.

And hopefully Portland has used up a few seasons' worth of game winning shots.

I didn't watch a ton of the games past game 2 with all their late starts, but it seemed that Houston had their most success against the Marcus when they kept Asik on him. Obviously Aldridge is way quicker than Asik, but he struggled to get good position down low and couldn't shoot that midrange jumper over the top as easily. IMO, we'll handle him similarly to Dirk; keep Splitter on him and force him to knock down 18 footers. Now if he goes crazy and knocks that shot down consistently (like he did in games 1 and 2 against Houston), then there's not a whole lot that can be done. But I think Pop is willing to take his chances that he won't hit those at an extremely high clip.

I think it'll be interesting to see if Parker and Lillard guard each other, or if they cross match up. Parker has always struggled the most with bigger guys, so I imagine Portland will elect to let Batum guard TP. I expect Danny Green to draw Lillard, but will Pop have Tony guard Wesley Matthews or Batum? I wouldn't be surprised if Pop matches up like he did against Golden State last year when he had Tony guard Harrison Barnes. Make that matchup with Batum look like such a mismatch that Portland has to exploit it and see if Batum can win a game, meanwhile let our two best perimeter defenders matchup with their two best perimeter scorers.

I'm shocked the NBA puts so many games so late on the evening. It's really disappointing.

I think Leonard and green cover lillard. Can't see them wasting Parker's energy trying to cover that guy. And I agree that they will likely have the same game plan on Aldridge as they did on dork. Aldridge isn't a guy I think that beats you with great athleticism or power, he's more of a fundamentalist like Duncan. Get a hand up on him, don't fall for his first step, and body up. We will be fine

No way Aldridge can hit some of those shots Dirk was making in game 6 and 7.

If he wants to score 40, fine. Let him. Make sure he has to shoot 40 times to do it, or keep the other 4 bottled up.

Series will depend on which LMA shows up.

If it's the guy from the first 2 games of the Houston series this could be ugly. There's really nothing you can do when a guy is straight draining contested 20 ft midrange jumpers with a 7 ft guy in his face.

The blazers pretty much have a six man rotation with Thomas Robinson getting little burn as their 7th man. Incredibly shallow roster compared to the spurs.

As long as the spurs aren't running out of gas when it comes to the energy department I like their chances in this series.

I think the Mavs are a more difficult defensive matchup with the penetrating guards of Ellis and Harris, and Calderon shoots it on par with the Blazers guards. It was a good series to really challenge the Spurs. Need to take care of business in the first 2 in SA; if we can do that I like our chances to take the series. I fully expect the Blazers to shoot lights out for at least a couple games like Golden State last year. I like the matchup better than facing Houston but we'll see how it goes.
