Talked to a friend within the Spurs organization about Baynes tonight. He said Pop talked to Baynes in the shootaround before the game.

Pop's exact exchange was:

Backups don't have the defense to handle the Blazers starters. Not surprising, but I'd like to see the starters come back in for about 4 minutes to put this thing away.

That's the Spurs everyone expected to show up in round 1. Excellent defense in the first half, lots of wide open looks from 3, bench coming on strong, Tony dominating against a pretty below average defensive team.

Great game 1.

Parker looks like he's regained last years form which is I ridiculous considering how he looked just a couple weeks ago.

Belinelli got some shots in and appears he's back

Spurs got to rest Timmy and Manu after that tough first series. Important considering we're playing every other day now from here on out this series.



Portland will rebound strong and this will still be a tough series. Very good and important win tonight though,
