"And the defending Western Conference Champions take game 1"... I couldn't help but think, again, that it should have been "Defending NBA Champions". I still can't believe what happened in Game 6 last year... cannot... believe it!

Nothing will ever take away the sting. A 'ship this year would definitely help, but then I would just switch to thinking how it was another near-miss for back-to-back titles.

Whenever I catch myself thinking about the Spurs of 05-07, I think how close we came to three-peating.

I championship this year would remove all the hurt from 2013 IMO. If the Spurs win it last year it's very unlikely that they are in the position they are in now this coming year.

Have to win it this year though. It would be the ultimate championship.

Why do you say that? Not disagreeing, just wondering.

No kidding. Spurs leading 3 games to 2, up by 5 pts with 30 seconds left. Heat sink a 3, then foul the Spurs out of necessity. If he makes both FT, it's a 4 pt lead and the championship is practically guaranteed. But he bricks the first one! So it's a 3 pt lead. Heat drain ANOTHER three and send it to overtime, and then ... oh well.

It would have been 1 huge long celebration that would still be going on today. Not a chance our team would have the drive they have now coming off that loss. That's what is fueling this team. Plus it is incredibly hard to repeat in the NBA. I don't see the team responding the way they did at the start of this season and they probably aren't seeded 1 overall this year. JMO.

A championship this season should take all the sting out of 2013 though that's for sure. It would be the most amazing championship ever if the Spurs somehow pull it out and last year would be forgotten. Especially if it's against the Heat.

2013 would ultimately be talked about just like 04 and 06. Seasons the Spurs should and could have won it all but they didn't.

Even worse than that... Don't forge Parker got free throws the previous possession when they were up 4. He only made 1 of 2 as well... If either had made both free throws its over.

And then hey missed the final 3 only for Ray to get he rebound and... Yeah, the suckage of that will not go away unless they win it all this year.

Why are we talking about this. We all saw it and discussed it a million times. Stop making us regret coming into the thread!

I thought it was Ginobili and Leonard --and not Parker--that choked from the line in the last 30 seconds, no?

Hey, you guys remember when we curb stomped Dallas in game 7 and then two days later took Portland behind the woodshed and taught them a similar lesson?! That was awesome.

Better?

Ginobili...killed two championships. 2013 and 2006 with that GD foul on Dirk in game 7. Spurs would have killed the Heat that year w Shaq/Wade.

Live by Ginobili, die by Ginobili. I don't mind the foul on Dirk. The man plays balls out and most of the time he gets the plays. On that play he was playing balls out and just came a couple inches short. If he had gotten up a little higher, we would still be talking about how that was one of the greatest playoff defensive plays ever.

R.C. Buford named "Executive of the Year" for the first time.

Good bull for an AGGIE...

Headed back home for game 2! I went to game 4 against the Mavs up here in Dallas and got booed on the DART just for wearing a Spurs jersey on the way to the AAC... Can't wait to be surrounded by Spurs fans again! I can taste the overly priced Taco C that I'm going to waste my money on already, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Game day! Let's go Spurs!

Would be too much for me to handle if the Spurs win tonight and JFF gets drafted by the Cowboys.

I said they would somewhat convincingly win game 1 and 2... I'm right so far.

We'll see how much of this game I can actually watch... the NFL Draft will get the majority of my attention!

Parker isn't hitting the midrange or we'd be up comfortably. Still getting into the paint with ease.

Woah just showed a graphic of the percentage of contested jumpers in Portland's series against Houston and game 1. Houston's best percentage was 52%, in game 1 we contested 76%!
