Two big plays sealed the game against us in my mind:

Spurs down two, about 3min left Portland got 2 offensive rebounds on the same play and then Deni nails the 3 to go up 5.

Then the Fox play with about a minute left. Fox gets the steal, driving in, but doesn't have the open lane for the easy layup because transition defense is back, but instead of creating something he goes through and tries to do a 180 spin mid-range shot from ~12'.

We are down 1 and have the full 24 seconds, fire up the offense. Go straight at Clingan, because he either fouls out and we get two shots or he gives you the look to not foul out. Either way, it is a plus possession. But Fox makes the worst decision and fires a bad shot with 20 seconds left on the shot clock.

Gotta prevent the offensive rebounds in crunch time (same story as Knicks game in the Cup) and gotta create good shots. There was no reason for Fox to take a bad shot with 20 seconds left on the shot clock.

At least the rockets are likely dropping one tonight. Two more consecutive back to backs to be rewarded by a thunder game.

Steven Adams just missed his 2nd straight game with a sprained ankle and Sengun left the game a minute into it when he came down on Gafford's foot on a rebound and rolled his ankle pretty bad.

Rockets might be starting Clint Capela for a bit.

Fox is great at getting in the paint and getting a shot off. I don't think he's ever going to be a great decision maker though. I think Harper and Steph will be elite in this area with more experience, particularly Steph when he cuts the turnovers.

Blazers hit nine more threes than us. Another night of visitors outshooting us in our own gym. Shouldn't happen.

A lot of his mid-range shots are really great decisions and high value shots. Fox is shooting 52% from 16-23 - higher than Durant, the king of Middies at 51%.

But there are different qualities of looks. And if Fox is crossing someone over, going to his left to his spot and pulling up, it is a really great look. But driving into the lane, realizing you don't have a look, driving out the side then jumping and turning 180 to fire an off balance shot? Not a good look.

I agree, I think Steph and Harper will be better on that. But Fox should have just gone with the floater or dribbled it back out to the top like Parker would do when transition didn't work and start the play. That **** is so frustrating. Take the easy shot or get into the offense, but don't fire off a difficult shot for no reason.

Suns just beat OKC.

Denver lost to Brooklyn

Bucks beat the Kings. Bucks just half game back from knocking the Hawks to 11th seed and out of the playoffs.

Pretty good night for the Spurs.

Lakers somehow #3 in the west with a negative point differential.

Honestly that is great for the playoffs. Get OKC, Denver, and Houston all on the other side of the bracket.

1 OKC vs play in

4 Denver vs 5 Houston

2 SA vs play in

3 LAL vs 6 Minn

I am sure Adam Silver gifts the Lakers some stupid trade to help the defense. But I don't know how they can keep winning with the 30th best defense in the league and a negative point differential.

Hawks are probably the only team ever in the history of the NBA that can improve their defense by adding 34-year-old CJ McCollum

What is in it for the wizards? They'd definitely need to be getting some decent draft capital. Two more years of Young's albatross is awful.

Young can opt out after this season.

Tank this season and hope to get Boozer or AJ.

Sarr
Boozer/AJ
Bilal/George
Tre Johnson
Trae Young/bub

Meh first in two years, Kispert and CJ's ending contract isn't that much. things get weird if they land Peterson.

I like it for the Wiz, they need someone to organize the offense and bring some structure to a young team. They have been a bottom 5 offense since Beal's departure with no end in sight, so you can maybe start using Sarr/Coulibaly/George/Kispert/Tre in roles closer to what they should be in. Carrington has been awful for them this year and they can't just keep putting everything on George and an aging CJ. Plugging Trae in for CJ to try and do a good ole OKC-style rehab seems like a decent idea.

What will be interesting is if Trae opts out. Brooklyn is the only team that will have Max contract space other than Washington but they drafted six point guards last year. Maybe Utah could clear out enough space.

And if you're Washington, are you worried about a bidding war for Trey young? If you think you can build a team with him at point guard, having his bird rights does have some value because if another team is dumb enough to want to give him the max, they're probably going to have to sign and trade with you

I think that team makes a lot of sense and they're probably going to be a top three worst team and three of the first four picks are going to be forwards

They started out by playing a bunch of teams with losing records. We were one of the first teams with a pulse to play them, and beat them 3 times. Now the rest of their schedule gets harder from here out.

Trae can't possibly by stupid enough to opt out of nearly $50 million for 1 year, right? His next contract is going to be piddly in comparion.

It's funny (given the Grizz injury report) that in Memphis, tonight's game promotion is "Health Night" sponsored by Cigna.

First 500 fans get a free calf muscle examination.

I can't believe the line is only 6.5 points.

If the Wizards are trading for him, that trade is probably going to include a deal under the table for an extension. So he declines the 49M next year to sign a 4y-175M extension and he makes less next year, but it gives them max cap space to make a move to fill out their roster around him.

Not sure this guy is reputable, but Bismack's contract is unguaranteed and we can create a roster spot opening by waiving him.

Nice to see Jeremy playing with some intensity and effort. Shot not dropping, but he looks better on the court than he has in a while.
