Man I'm so pumped for this season to start
Quote:
Houston: J.D. Davis, 3B/1B (No. 9 on Astros' Top 30)
Davis had to repeat Double-A at the start of 2017 because of Houston's wealth of third basemen, which was eased by the offseason inclusion of Colin Moran in the Gerrit Cole trade with the Pirates. He won't wrest the hot-corner job away from Alex Bregman, but an impressive Grapefruit League performance earned him a spot on the Opening Day roster and some playing time at first base while Yuli Gurriel is sidelined with a hand injury. Davis' strength creates power to all fields, as evidenced by 79 homers in three full pro seasons since signing as a third-round pick out of Cal State Fullerton in 2014, and he went deep four times in 62 at-bats with the Astros late last season.
I would assume first base plays in usual position, 2nd base is in the hole on the grass in shallow right field, and short stop moves to the first base side of 2nd base. The 3rd baseman would then play on the line in left field.Frok said:
I'm confused, there would still be a third baseman right? Wouldn't that mean the left side isn't completely open?

MLB.com thinks Davis is the prospect that makes the biggest impact to the club this year.Quote:

Great time at the park tonight. Roof open, no beer lines, sit wherever you want, saw the starters and the youngins.
Felt like a trip back to the 100 loss dark years.
And yeah...Don't think many will like the new pennants. They're up there on the light poles above the Crawford Boxes covered in black but they're too small for my liking.
That article wanted a subscription, but if its the same one we tried a couple times in spring training then no, there is no third basemen.Frok said:

He only has 146 ABs. I'd still call him a prospect. Unless you're saying he's going to be given every opportunity to play early and often so he's no longer one? As much as I hope Fisher works out, I don't want him or Jake to be the reason we're not seeing TED.
