I think it's more to do with the fact that an Astros fan actually paid money and wears this jersey with pride and Stros fans think this is heroic. It's very symbolic of the Houston fan inferiority complex with all things Dallas.

Since the move to the SEC A&M has been far more concerned about what it's doing rather worrying about whatever tu is doing.
Hell, there is even a fairly sizable Aggie contingent that wouldn't even care if we ever play them again. Contrast that with tu who just had their coach and AD talking about wanting to start the rivalry again.
