I felt like Red Bull nailed the pit strategy until the safety car. He was still in 3rd and close to Norris with an extra stop. I don't know how much the pit strategy was driven by what tires they had available for the race. Surely he had a set of used softs with only a couple of laps on them they could have put on. Maybe they were hoping there wouldn't be a safety car.
Well that was entertaining. Painful watching Hamilton get passed by Hulk though.
Hulk had a hell of a day.
He had no tires other than hard. He went into the race day with Hard,Medium, and 4 softs (New and 3 used).
Typically all teams run a used soft for the reconnaissance laps to the grid, so he used 3 softs and a medium prior to safety car.

Yeah, I know that he only had a new set of hards left. My thinking was if he had a set of softs that were only used for a couple of laps, would that not have been better than the new hards? I assume the answer is no, because they would have done that if it were.

Why not just leave Max on the used softs. By the time the safety car was gone, he was only going to manage them for 5-6 laps...and he was planning on doing that anyway without a safety car.

It felt like RedBull panicked. That and the driver swap along with Max's anger cost them a bunch of points. Usually their strategy team is good at maximizing results.

First, George hit him on the first overtake. "Lost control" is Mercedes favoring. It should have been dealt with by the stewards there. Then Horner or whoever (but the buck stops with Him) made the call to go to hards which was nuts "because everyone is pitting under a safety car". Then the "give the place back" nonsense call by Horner set Max off.....Had the collisions earlier been dealt with quickly, maybe Max could have done better but Max lost his mind and just gave away all those points.
Horner has to be on the brink of firing after this and other incidents this season.
Just rewatched. He might not have been able to hold off papaya, but Max is on the podium if they leave him out on the used soft tires instead of bringing him in under yellow to put on the hard tires.
Also, if RB thought the softs wouldn't last the race, why not send him out on hard tires during the 3rd pit stop?

Oh damn! BBC Sport is reporting that after Lance Stroll failed to make Q2, he had fit in the garage, swore at team members, and broke a bunch of things. He also skipped weigh in which was noted by the stewards.

Their Reserve Driver probably won't do any worse.
I don't think they have a reserve driver for this race because he dropped out after qualifying.
The real issue will be in two weeks if he still can't compete for the Canadian GP. Both of the Aston Martin reserve drivers are scheduled to compete in the 24Hr of Le Mans
The Speed City radio guys just brought that up as a possibility for Canada if Lance isn't able to drive.

The closet Regal Cinema to me is about 45 minutes away and as of right now they are not scheduled to get the F1 Helmet popcorn buckets

I know they have Ayumu Iwasa as a reserve driver for Racing Bulls but I can't remember if the official Red Bull team had a reserve driver going into this year
Feels criminal to end F3 in Madrid rather than Monza. And as expected no F2 or F3 in this continent.
Hopefully F1 Academy doesn't take ages again to announce their calendar, really hoping for one GP to get all 3 feeders like Barcelona last year.
Hoping to do Jeddah or Suzuka next year (only if F1A race there) and then Hungary or Spa in the summer.

Really looking forward to F1 Academy this weekend. Maya Weug has really put on a great performance this year. Honestly the top three have all looked good.
Wueg and Pin are two that seem to have a similar competitive edge. They aren't afraid to take calculated risks and be more aggressive. Pin seems to have stepped up her game in that regard from last year.
Sadly I think Lia Block has just never seemed comfortable in this car. Even if she were to find sponsorship for the next level (GB3?) I don't think she has the skill to be competitive there.
Also can F1 Academy get their **** together and put out some merch? If I can throw a tshirt design up on my print on demand storefront in 20 minutes, they should be able to offer some tshirts, sweatshirts, and caps.
