The amount of things a driver has to do in the cockpit, besides just keeping the car on track is mind boggling to me. The fact they have to remember specific brake balance, differential settings, for each track and turn is insane.

There's a Sim Racing place in the Kansas City area that and buddy and I have a monthly membership to. You can pick from all sorts of different cars from little hatchbacks, drifters, luxury sports cars, supercars, and of course any flavor of racing car you can think of. Then you pick from something like 50 different tracks all across the globe. They even have different historical layouts for some of the older tracks like Silverstone.

So far the best I have been able to handle is the Ferrari F2004 which has pretty simple setup with paddle shifters. Beyond that, I am way out of my league with all of the different switches and modes some of the guys up there race with. You can also adjust the force feedback and I keep mine at about 70%-80%. If I even glance up to check my lap time, mirrors, or anything else on the screen there's an 80% chance I will drive off or lose control. I have no idea how they actually do all of that in the real cars.


On race week we like to go in and drive the upcoming track so we can get a feel for it. It does a good job reminding us we are not built for that life.

joins AIX (probably team having trouble with finding a third driver that can pay for the full season) for Round 2 of FIA F3 after debuting full time in Italian F4 last year. 2nd in FRMEC (against Evan Giltaire who is also excellent but not a rookie) and doing FRECA and GB3 later this year. i've heard he has more budget than what Lando had when he was in lower formulae. I talked about him with some of the Prema personnel in Shanghai and I was told they all like him a lot because of how focused he gets.

remember this guy because he will be in F1 within the next 3-4 years

I don't know how many superlatives you can foist on someone. But im just going to continue with my original. Max is absolute mad man to get this performance out of that car. Listening to a podcast I like they were discussing whether this is his greatest qualifying performance ever. It's certifiably worthy of discussion.
