That's why I think it's easier to list the bands you generally wouldn't admit to having seen. So, in that vein, I'll add the Brian Setzer Orchestra to the list.

To be fair these threads NEVER go the way the OP intended. Ever.

Based on your OP, I thought you were looking for things like the fact that nobody on here saw Linkin Park more recently than I did when they opened for Metallica at Rock in Rio USA in Las Vegas in 2015.

Just led me down a mental rabbit hole which reminded me that I saw Meat Loaf in Sydney. Meat really has no ability to sing by that time in his career. Probably 10 years ago.

And that reminds me about the fact that I saw Lil Wayne with Birdman open for Eminem in Sydney. The first act was Hilltop Hood Hoods but unfortunately, we got there later than I wanted to and we had to go to the opposite side of the stadium to get in. So I could hear them playing but couldn't see the show.

I saw Eminem on a side stage at warped tour. Those first couple warped tours probably would qualify as seeing a ton of bands before they got huge. Those were loaded with good bands.
I want to hear about how you fell in love with the girl at the rock show.

I didn't see Power Station, but I did see Robert Palmer at Rudder in 89.

I was more concerned with sneaking weed in in my shoe than any girls. In pretty sure 1998 was the first one I went to and I was not yet old enough to drive. NOFX, rancid, hatebreed, deftones, dropkick murphys, vandals, bad religion, CIV and on and on. Pretty awesome line up for back then imo. Looking at the lineup, staind played. That certainly would have been before they were huge, but I dont recall seeing them there. I'm pretty sure 311 played on the side stage as well. That was my first introduction to hatebreed and I had their sticker on my binder at school from then on out. I was really only in to punk before that. It is wild to me that I have been listening to hatebreed for 25 years. Gonna put on "Satisfaction....." now and do spinkicks across my hotel room.

Also mxpx played and those are pretty much straight up lyrics to one of their songs. Also, I saw them play an acoustic set at Soundwaves in houston in like 2002.

Palmer bailed on the Power Station tour to do solo stuff. Michael Des Barres sang lead when I saw them.

Saw Neil Diamond at the Drum in Austin in 1980. Never saw Linda Ronstadt, that would've been a good one.

I know lots of folks have seen him but I saw George Strait at the Milam County Fair in 1983. Saw Crystal Gale at the Burleson County Fair in 1978

I saw Crystal Gayle at the Houston Rodeo in 1978. Saw Clay Walker as opening act for Willie in 1994.

Here's an obscure one:

Jose Feliciano at the Carlton Celebrity Room in Bloomington, Minnesota February 1987. I was in town for a little "in and out".

Probably some pretty good sized death metal bands.

Hatebreed. Singer used to host the metal show on mtv.

Maybe some old punk and hardcore bands.

62 strat and MAYBE know your enemy may have seen some of these bands. Most of these are probably not really what OP was talking about though.

How about shows I worked though? Maroon 5 gave me a cooler dull of beer. Slayer gave me their drum heads and I sold them on ebay. R Kelly got in my way while riding a Segway around the Toyota center floor. I had tonturn and face the wall when his majesty prince was driven through the tunnels of Toyota center. *****. Was THIS CLOSE to getting a used WWE wrestling mat from one of their trucks. Probably could have sold that for a mint.
woah that was weird. I'm reading, see hatebreed mentioned, I'm like, hah yeh my band OPENED for hatebreed.

But then I see I get the nod

Def metal bands.
I saw dissection, who is defunct since 2006 and hasn't played the US since the 90s. Morbid angel at the same show.

Saw original pantera a few times which, not saying I'm the only one, but it's a small pool of people that are pretty much all over 40.

My wife's life long childhood friend saw nirvana.

was the dissection morbid angel show at cardis? i honestly don't remember if i saw this or if it was one i wanted to catch but didnt make it to. i've seen morbid angel a couple times and i recall one of those times being at cardis around then. it's been a while and my memory is awful

edit: misread your post as 2006 being the show. nevemind that question, reading is hard

Dropkick Murphy's reminded me, I saw Supersuckers open for Flogging Molly at El Rey theater in Los Angeles circa 2002.

About that same time, I saw Gorillaz in Seattle. They played silhouetted behind a white sheet.

Fact checking myself, there's actually a bootleg of the Gorillaz show from March 5th 2002 on YouTube. Audio only.

you didn't misread my post lol.

2006 is simply the year Dissection became defunct. The show I mentioned with Morbid angle was 90s, and it was at the aybss, with at the gates as well.

march of 1996

Ozzfest 2005, bands in alphabetical order:
A Dozen Furies
Arch Enemy
As I Lay Dying
Black Label Society
Black Sabbath
In Flames
It Dies Today
Killswitch Engage
Mastodon
Mudvayne
Rob Zombie
Shadows Fall
Soilwork
The Black Dahlia Murder
The Haunted
Trivium
Velvet Revolver

Killer lineup, plenty might have seen the above bands but the last band in alphabetical order is Wicked Wisdom, which is fronted by Jada Pinkett Smith...and they were awful. I doubt many people on this board have seen her perform in concert.

damn that's awesome. How cool that Rob has kept that band alive for 25 years now.

He called me totally out the blue about a year or two ago, hadn't heard from him in over a decade. He sent me some demos they were working on, quick conversation but good to hear from him. He told me Scott had passed away

Skinny Puppy
Meshuggah
Ministry (actually, would be surprised if no one here has been to one of their show)
Melvins

Wife and I saw Meshuggah and Ministry on the same bill. I think Hemlock (a sludge band from Vegas ) opened

Now that would haven been a great night. I figured no one here would have probably seen them (Meshuggah) and Skinny Puppy (which probably does hold true).

I too saw Eminem at Warped Tour. This was the summer of 1999 when he had just released The Slim Shady LP a couple of months before. "My Name Is" was blowing up on MTV, and I remember we were all stoked to see Dr. Dre come out and instead, there was some rando and it pissed everybody off, haha.

If you were there, you also saw the 1999 versions of:

Ice T
Blink 182 (touring on Enema of the State, which had literally come out like a week before)
The Black Eyed Peas (before Fergie)
Less Than Jake (touring Hello Rockview and "History of a Boring Town" and "All My Friends Are Metalheads")
Dropkick Murphys (like 6 years before "I'm Shipping Pp to Boston" came out)
Jimmy Eat World (touring Clarity)

And a ton of others. Those shows were pretty epic.
