We will be lucky if Russia only targets the gas pipelines (assuming this isn't another Gulf of Tonkin). If they were to start clipping communication wires they can paralyze the international banking system and internet communications . It could be a death blow to struggling economies and supply chains.

You are asking the wrong question. The question is not how does blowing up the pipeline benefit the US. The question is how does blowing up the pipeline benefit this administration.

The US is heading for an energy crisis this winter; particularly the NE. This is a direct result of this administration's energy policies.

If the EU experiences a much worse crisis this winter, then that will dominate the headlines and the Democrat base will still believe it was all due to Putin. If those headlines aren't there, this administration's energy policy will take center stage and no amount of media running cover for them will be able to deflect it.

Go look at the former PM of Poland's twitter via the link. He's not blaming the US - he is thanking the US for blowing up the pipeline. It guarantees that Germany can't cut a deal with Putin for natural gas via those pipelines and abandon Ukraine in exchange.

Poland will not allow an aggressive Russia to take over Ukraine and share hundreds of miles of border with Poland. Poland will fight before it comes to that, even if they do it alone.

So this guy is thanking the US for committing a direct act of war against Russia for blowing up the pipeline and thereby forcing Germany to stay the course with Ukraine.

That's his take.

If in fact this narrative takes hold, that the US did it, well, there's a gif from Hunt for the Red October that is appropriate.

Ending the Nordstream2 was a sanction we threatened Putin with if he invaded Ukraine. He invaded, we carried out sanction. It really is that simple.
