Didn't this exact same situation happening like 10 years ago in Kerrville ??? This a carbon copy of what I remember.
I think that was Wimberly. But anywhere in a Hill Country watershed is at risk. Lots of water in a short duration in an area of low porosity and lots channeled flow can be bad news.
My ranch is in the SE corner of San Saba Co. I took my 16 year old and two of his buddies for a work day, yesterday. Watched weather the whole time. Cherokee Creek runs through the front of our place and empties in to the Colorado just a mile or so down. Cherokee gets just as deep and wide where it comes through our ranch.
Rain just would not stop last night. Got the kids out this morning around 9:00. Low water over Cherokee was only about 6" over. My foreman text a vid to me three hours later and it was 6-8' over. Looks like a white water rafting river in the Rockies.
It literally happens that fast in the Hill Country. And considering we've had ample spring rain, everything is already pretty saturated.
Very sad situation in Kerrville.
