Dems are pissed. They've already maxed out their gerrymandering and can't counter unless they do something stupid like Virginia.

So Virginia SC might shoot down the redraw and are leaning that way, is that what I am reading?

Will be epic

The process that was used ignored the commonwealth's constitution and statutes. The process will be struck down. For that reason, the vote results cannot stand.

That is not say the Dems cannot try it again, they just have to follow the proper procedure.

Dems tried to cheat
How do you exist? Lol. Dems put it up to a vote in their response to Trump rigging Texas… And none of the republican states put it to a vote. Straight dictator-like gerrymandered further and further as Dems have to chase you tit-for-tat like you'd do too if Dems mid-decade gerrymandered like Trump started in order to win the midterms as he openly said. Talk about cheating. Good God.

I'd wager Trump's mid-decade cheating is something he learned from Viktor Orban who Trump & JD campaigned for. Orban is who we found out was funding the major Republican pro-Trump group TPUSA…so being funded from Hungary by Putin's puppet Orban. Lol still wild.

And you guys talking begging for democrats to be constrained by their own laws passed to prevent gerrymandering. As you gerrymander every state by mandate by governor like mini-dictators of the far-right.

You would thus support Harris County going back to its original precincts that gives a more fair representation to the county's citizens rather than the gerrymandering done by Rodney Ellis and company?

Or is only gerrymandering by republicans considering cheating?

Perhaps next time Skankberger and her base of NVA feds, Islamo-Fascists, trannies, traitors and Corruptocrats will actually read the law before acting.

Thanks for waking up Red State America. Northern Virginia gave the Republican Party a nice gift.

I hope all of my fellow republicans remember that they still need to get and vote on election day to make this whole gerrymandering thing work.

Judge Jack Hurley Jr. in Tazewell County needs to get put on a short list for SCOTUS.

Probably has Jay Jones fantasizing about killing Republicans and their children again.

Wait, you're saying that people voted in this election before this new redistricting measure got dropped on the ballot, basically preventing them from voting on it?

So there was basically a new ballot for those that didn't vote yet?

No. VA law requires the state assembly pass a measure to amend the constitution. Then there needs to be another election, state assembly passes it again, then it can be put to the voters. There is also a 90 day pre-election posting requirement.

So the question is which was the first election and then which was the second election in which the voters could be presented the question under state law.

There was a special session that had been called for only budgeting issues before the 2025 election. Early voting for that election was already underway when the Special Session added the redistricting issue within their session. Commonwealth argues that since the actual election day had not occurred, the early voting didn't count as far as being the first passage. Election day itself was the requisite date.

Kind of in the weeds but to amend the state constitution should not be a quick and easy process. VA just made it quicker and easier by violating their own laws.

This is literally how Hitler came to power.

I am glad the Virginia Supreme Court ruled 4-3 that the state's Democratic-led legislature violated procedural requirements when it placed the constitutional amendment on the ballot to authorize mid-decade redistricting. Hopefully, it will help the Republicans to retain control of the house.

It's simple. Texas followed the law in our redirecting. Virginia didn't follow their laws.

I get that when feels make the left break the law, they think feels should override everything. But the law is the law and Virginia didn't follow it.

And that hurts your feelings. You can blame the dictator all you want. The issue is you didn't follow the law. Trump didn't make the law. Virginia did.

Note, the VA legislature appoints the justices; they are going to nuke the court (functionally) in 2027 so this doesn't happen again.

Most definitely. But we also need to turn out for primaries, and RUNOFFS in the primaries, to prevent Rinos from being on the ballot for the general election. I think y'all get my drift. It doesn't do anyone any good, especially conservatives, if we keep putting the same old dems in Republican clothing back in office.

I would prefer the law meant something still. Note, it clearly doesn't in California, where their constitution was brazenly violated and the state court ignored this completely.
