Szo suspended for Saturday for his 5th yellow
Currently out: gakpo, Salah, Isak, Gomez for awhile. Unknown for how long: Bradley and Gomez.
Anyone else im missing?
By my count, our injury/suspension report (in squad number order):
-
Joe Gomez - Played more than 3 games, so of course he is injured.
--> Return Date : Unknown (could be this weekend)
-
Wataru Endo - Picked up an undisclosed muscle injury vs Brighton on Dec 6
--> Return Date : Possibly Late Jan. Slot said "weeks" at a Dec 12 press conference
-
Ibrahima Konate - Not an injury or suspension but should be noted that he is on
4 yellows. One more and he is suspended. He needs to make it past the Wolves and Leeds game where the YC restarts at 0 after 19 games played, the halfway point in the season.
-
Dominik Szoboszlai - Suspended for 5th yellow
--> Return Date : Thurs Jan 1 vs Leeds
-
Alexander Isak - Reports indicate he has a "lower leg fracture"
--> Return Date : Unknown. Depending on severity, location, and if surgical intervention is needed. Best case scenario: 3-4 months. Worst case: 18-24 months. We really won't know until some statement is put out. But as a physical therapist, bone fracture > ACL.
-
Mohamed Salah - AFCON duties
--> Return Date : AFCON Final is Jan 18. So Jan 21 vs Marseille at the latest. (Or has he already played his last game for Liverpool? Reports say he apologized to his teammates before the Brighton game and Slot says he is ready to move forward. Read into all that what you will.
-
Conor Bradley - Appeared to pull his hamstring
--> Return Date : Unknown
-
Giovanni Leoni - ACL Tear
--> Return Date : October 2026
-
Cody Gakpo - Muscle Injury
--> Return Date : Early January 2026

All others should be in contention for Saturday's Wolves visit. I hope
Slot rotates some and gives some fringe players some valuable minutes. We
should handle Wolves easily who have yet to win a game this season and have only picked up 2 points in draws with Brighton and Tottenham.
I expect
Alisson to keep his place in goal.
Frimpong and
Kerkez in their respective fullback positions with
VvD and
Konate keeping their centreback partnership. I imagine Slot keeps at least 4 midfielders on the pitch so
Gravenberch,
Macca, and
Jones are hopefully joined by
Nyoni.
Ekitike in his impeccable recent form is joined by
Chiesa up front.
Wirtz was rubbing his hamstring before being subbed off so maybe he should start on the bench. Hopefully
Rio gets some minutes too. Has disappeared down the depth chart with each passing week. It is the most frustrating thing to me about Slot, his reluctance and fear of rotating and playing younger players. It was one of Klopp's best traits and paid dividends for him in a Carabao Cup win. Our depth is looking quite shockingly thin in these festive fixtures....
Eikitike -- Chiesa
Macca
Jones -- Nyoni
Gravenberch
Kerkez -- VvD -- Ibou -- Frimpong
Alisson
Subs:
Gomez, Wirtz, Robertson, Rio, Ramsey, Mamardashvili, a few other Academy players
