Yesterday showed a glimmer of hope of what this team can be and achieve. (It is just one game and the opponent has to be taken into consideration. But it was also a UCL game on the road and a win is a win). If I'm the manager trying to pull my team out of the slump we have found ourselves in and after yesterday's stellar performance, I try to keep as much of that on the pitch for Saturday. Arne Slot needs to find out if this is the formula that works with this iteration of Liverpool Football Club. Last season, he was so good at making small, little tactical tweaks both before and during games to give us the best possible chance of success and I have just not seen it this season. Yesterday was the first real tactical change I have seen him make so here's to hoping Slot can get us back on track. I think the calls for a managerial change are dumb and premature. Slot has earned some grace and deserves the chance to try to right this ship.
For Saturday's visit to Brentford, GK position picks itself. As does RB with Bradley and the two CBs in Konate and VvD. Konate finally looked like an elite CB for the first time this season. Robbo earned his place yesterday. Ekitike's goal changed the momentum and result of the game and Kerkez does not make that pass. He knows when and where to attack and when to sit back. He is a master at picking the right moments. Kerkez just isn't there yet. In midfield, I would pick the same three. Wirtz showed a bit of his magic yesterday and Jones & Szobo were everywhere and the engines of last night's performance. Gakpo keeps his place, as does Ekitike. The Frenchman is just better than Isak at the moment. And if Isak is out, I'd give Chiesa a deserved run in and keep Salah on the bench. Chiesa has a motor on him that can help click this offense into gear. Let Salah get angry on the bench and maybe that reignites something in him after you bring him on as a sub.
Gakpo -- Ekitike -- Chiesa
Wirtz -- Jones -- Szoboszlai
Robbo -- VvD -- Ibou -- Bradley

We know better than most that titles and trophies are not won in October. But we need to get back on track if we have any hope of catching Arsenal. The Gunners look very good at the moment and their comprehensive result against Atletico will only give them more confidence. They've always been the chaser and never the hunted so this may be new territory for them. We need to be in position for if and when they slip up.
Side Note: This is our 5th away match in our last 6. Just a brutal run of games.
