splitter has been ultra weak on d and rebounding, and he has been taking notes from kg on not posting up and punishing small players

this is eerily similar to the Pistons series- Pop cut bait as OKC played perfect and the spurs easily could have gotten this game down to the magic number of 8 with 5 minutes left

but Pop let the boys take an arse whipping

i personally felt that okc played a mediocre game outside ibaka and thabo

Actually, I'm of the opinion that this loss will do more good than harm. Having a long winning streak over your head can add presssure, even subconsciously. Spurs needed a loss to bring them back down to Earth and to really motivate them for game 4. I really think the Spurs bring it next game and win decisively.

That's exactly why it wasn't mediocre. And it's their defense that won them the game.

I guess I'm confused because before this series all the Spurs fans said that the only way the Thunder have a chance is for the Big 3 to have 4 spectacular games. They are about to win one where Westbrook has only 10 points and Harden doesn't have many more...that doesn't worry y'all?

Meh...it would worry me if the Spurs actually played well and lost with Westbrook and Hardin only getting 10 a piece, but this was no where near a playoff effort.

It is hard to remember sometimes because they play so well for games at a time, but this really wouldn't be a true Spurs championship run without a couple of head scratching losses mixed in here and there...

I honestly think it goes 6 and the game 5 winner takes it home...

spurs will win game four if pop keeps bonner, splitter, and neal from being out there simultaneously

I still can't believe how many times they put Duncan on the block. It was unreal. No more of that unless he makes a move to the center of the court.

You guys are hilarious. That play was *****y (previously acknowledged), clay just made a moronic post about players celebrating like it's the Super Bowl and that's why they won't win the series. It's a tired argument, these guys are emotional. I fail to see the issue with it.

I gotta admit, it seemed pretty out of place and perhaps borderline BSC. It wasn't that hard of a foul and the dude straight up missed the dunk.

We will see how long the stares last when their intensity and energy level is met. They aren't going to intimidate the Spurs.

Adande sums it up better than me. Both styles work for both teams.

quote:
The difference in energy and emotion between the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs is evident before the official even tosses the ball. While the Spurs stand around like a collection of sculptures, Russell Westbrook gives a Usain Bolt-style double point to the crowd, Kevin Durant goes through his hacky sack pantomime routine with Serge Ibaka on the sideline, then skips across the court to give an exaggerated low-five to Kendrick Perkins followed by an elaborate handshake with Westbrook.

The Spurs are conservative, the Thunder excessive, but each style suits the team's roster.
Emotion was a necessary element for the Thunder, down 2-0 in the Western Conference finals. They were trailing not due to their own poor play but a sheer function of the machine-like efficiency of the Spurs. If the Thunder were to gain traction in the series, they would have to find something extra, go to a place the Spurs couldn't.

meh, thats a misleading conclusion to reach....people just dont pay attention to the spurs before, during, or after the game

People don't pay attention to the Thunder outside of the game either (re: the perceived Westbrook/Durant relationship)

Westbrook still hasnt played a good game yet on offense. The thunder dominated yesterday with westbrook going for 10pts on 15 shots.

Their bench scored 55 last night.

If Westbrook dominates, you have to figure their production will go down significantly. And I fully believe that can impact the game beyond the stats sheet.

Just a case of one team making great adjustments and playing a really great game, and another team failing to adjust and coming out flat.

Hard to believe it took 2 games for Scott Brooks to figure out to put a long defender on Parker. Almost as if he hasn't watched any basketball in the past 10 years.

i think you're missing the point. you call it "emotions" and "having fun". i have no problem with emotional players celebrating huge plays and game changing events. these dudes are jumping four feet in the air and slamming the ball up ten feet high while most of the turkeys in the crowd can't throw the ball that high. they should celebrate and have fun with their teammates. i love the thunder for that aspect.

harden has been acting different, though. bumping stephen jackson and staring down tiago was just retarded. not emotional. not having fun. just dumb.

it sounds an awful lot like you think that kind of crap is ok and you're making excuses for him. if what he was doing was ok, you shouldn't have to make excuses on his behalf.

let's just call his actions what they are. very westbrook/perkins ish.

Twice now I've said the Splitter incident was dumb, shouldn't have done it, was bush league.

The moment in questions was Harden yelling/screaming at teammates after a run when a TO was called. Absolutely harmless and nothing lame about it.

Let's cut Harden some slack, he's probably wigged out now that criminal Lil Wayne has professed love for his girlfriend and is trying to stalk her now (by trying to get front row seats to the game last night)

Must win for OKC. Game 5 is going to the Spurs guaranteed. Hopefully the Spurs can take care of business tonight and not have to go back to OKC.

I expect a tough game tonight all the way through.
