I'm expecting a very close and intense series like the 2006 Spurs-Mavs series (minus the history).

As said already I don't think any Spurs fans are over confident about this one. I said Spurs in 6, but I would not be surprised if the Thunder win in 6 or 7.

My main reason why I think the Spurs will win is because they have home court. It doesn't matter to me that the Spurs won 2 of 3 this year because both teams are playing at a much higher level right now.

As others have said, if the Spurs lose I will be rooting for the Thunder. Hopefully I won't have to do that.

Spurs have won 8 of the last 10 since OKC became a playoff-level team.

Count me in the group of Spurs fans who respect the Thunder, expect a long series, and will happily root for them if they win the WCF.

I'm just hoping the Spurs have enough to capture that playoff magic one more time. Then the Thunder can have all the titles they want.

This is going to be an epic series. If you think this is "boring" than you don't know basketball. Love that two small market teams are left standing in the west.

Spurs will live and die by the 3. They shot 52% in three games. Can they keep it up? Doubtful, but if they do they probably win the series.

^^ who in the blue **** told you that little tidbit? the spurs don't live and die by the three. hitting their threes is the reason they are winning their games by an average of 16 points. solid troll, though, turkey tits.

The Spurs led the league in 3FG%. They hit a high percentage because they pass so well they create wide open spots and set up the plays so the players are wide open in their hot spots. Additionally, OKC is really bad at rotating outside.

For instance, Kawhi Leonard shot 38% for the year. But he hits at 57% from the Bruce Bowen Memorial Corner Three. So the spurs run plays to get him to shoot from there. Pretty simple.

Bruce Bowen memorial corner!

That corner has been blessed for the spurs ever since Sean Elliot nailed that 3 against the blazers hovering over the OB line

Elliot was more of an elbow three. It was also amazing.

The Spurs will always drive to the bucket for an easy basket if it is there but typically teams will pick their poison and clog the lane leaving wide open 3's. A team that shoots a lot of wide open 3's isn't really "living or dying" by the 3. A team that is "living or dying" by the 3 has to take those shots if they are open or not because they don't have the bigs or the drivers to make other plays. Obviously if the Spurs are shooting 2 of 18 on 3's that is going to be a problem but the odds of that are miniscule. Any player that takes a contested 3 or an off balance 3 in the Spurs' offense with more than 3 seconds on the clock is going to get sent to the end of the bench almost immediately.

The Spurs play the odds. Manu, Green, Bonner, and Neal all shoot 3's above 40% with Leonard at 38% precisely because they are almost always open. The Spurs also spend part of every practice having each of those guys pick their favorite spot on the floor and fire away because they know with their offense they will get those shots. Putting a good jump shooter in their favorite spot wide open is about the best shot in basketball outside of a dunk.

I don't think that means what you think it means

Living and dying by the three is a lot more palatable when you have EIGHT players hitting 44% or better from three point land in the playoffs and the three that aren't hitting it are Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker. [Tiago and DeJuan Barkley haven't attempted one]
Ulrich

When the other team covers the three point line, they score in the paint. If the Spurs start taking contested threes, people can start calling them a team that lives and dies by the three.

Up to this point, they are only taking wide open threes. As a team with a ton of good shooters, they are going to make those at a good pace.

Granted two of those players play garbage time. Still impressive. Yikes, Manu's percentage is horrendous. We need him to shoot the ball better this series.

The key to the series will be making sure Gary Neal doesn't have to play defense.

It is amazing to me how many people think the Spurs are just on a 3-point "hot streak".

Any team in the NBA would be on such a streak were they to find themselves wide-a$$-freakin' open the way that Spurs shooters are lately.

The ball movement on this team is on par with some of the all-time greats. That's why a team full of relativly unathletic people just finished whipping the white dog-turds out of a team full of high-flying speedster athletes.

For the sake of looking ahead since the Spurs are apparently going to roll the Thunder with ease....

the answer is hell no. Wade and Lebron are playing at the highest level of a 1/2 punch ever in the history of sports.

No reason to think anything simple says is wrong.
