It's not earth shattering, but we all knew there wasn't going to be a blockbuster deal. Also, mostl of the names that were floated out there in rumors either didn't fit in our system with our current personell (Evan Turner and Beno Udrih) or we would have to give up too much to acquire (Thad Young). Yes this is an end of the bench deal, but Daye is a good shooter, is 6'11", and he's only 25 so there's time for him to possibly develop into a nice role here.

Spurs don't exactly do trade deadline stuff anyway.
Overall it was a pretty quiet deadline for everyone. Especially the contenders. Indiana got Turner but I really don't see that making a big impact.
Initially I thought the Spurs traded De Colo for Daye strictly to save some cash (De Colo makes about 500k more) but that's not the case seeing that Daye has a partially guaranteed contract for next season of 250k. All in all the Spurs won't save any money so they must like Daye a little to take him on.

Rumors are that after the Sixers buy out Granger, he will sign either with the Spurs or Heat.
Spurs should try to grab one of the players off waivers. Danny Granger, Earl Clark and Glen Davis are ill intriguing.
Davis will likely end up in LAC or Brooklyn but The Spurs should definitely try to pick up Clark or Granger.

Metta world peace bought out, he's reportedly interested in joining Miami , LAC or SA.
There's definitely better options but for the last roster spot he isn't a horrible option. He could provide some spot minutes against Harden, Durant, etc. when it matters.

If we don't get one of Danny Granger, Earl Clark, or Big Baby Davis, then I'd be ok with MWP. But he's not very good anymore and he's a special kind of crazy.
He's certainly crazy but unlike Stephen Jackson he's never been known as a lockeroom cancer.
Plus That toughness could serve the Spurs well. I too would prefer the ones you mentioned above first though.

I fully expect Big Baby to reunite with Doc Rivers, but damn it'd be nice to have him taking all of Ayres minutes.
Agree. That's would be a big pickup for the Clips seeing that Ryan Hollins is a key part of their front court rotation at the moment.

The guy is just an awful basketball player and I've tried to give him the benefit of the doubt but the fact that he's still getting minutes is ****ing insane. Pop looks like an idiot rolling that dude out on the court every night. It's saying something when Matt Bonner is better than you and don't even get me started on him. If the Spurs plan on using one of those two guys as a big in the playoffs it will come back to hurt us big time. The Spurs margin for error is a lot smaller than the other powers out west and we can't afford to roll out scrubs like that in the playoffs.

Sher, your post is what I've been saying since I saw Ayres for the first time against the team from Moscow. I couldn't give a **** if the dude is eight foot seven, he's awful at the game of basketball. This Ayres experience feels like that time when Pop was giving Bonner 20+ minutes a night. No matter how ****ing stupid Bonner looked getting run off the court by players with a pulse, Pop kept throwing minutes at him. I guess Pop thinks if you're in the court long enough, you magically won't suck all of a sudden. Im pretty sure he used this same strategy with Ginobili in the finals. No matter how many times he threw the ball into the third row, Pop kept force feeding him.
