Even though I'm glad the Spurs are dominating this series, round 2 has been completely lackluster so far. Pretty disappointing after the first round we got.

Looking at guys like Kawhi, Green, & Marco... it's amazing we were able to hold off the Mavs with those guys playing so far below their usual (on offense, green and kawhi were still great defensively). It's almost not fair for the Blazers. We needed 6 games with the Mavs before some of our guys got out of their mini slump and now it's an onslaught!

I didn't watch very many regular season games and I was starting to think people were pulling my leg saying that Marco was such a key bench player for us. That dude's found his shot again it appears!!!

Belli is a perfect fit for the Spurs... smart guy and a knockdown shooter with a knack for finding the open spot. He has been ripping apart second units most of the season because they aren't good enough; now he's damaging the Blazers because they don't have the depth to cover 30' of court for 48 minutes.

That game was tons of fun last night. Playoff basketball at AT&T Center > regular season.

It was just so much more apparent in person that we actually run an offense rather than just isolations or pure jump shooting and Portland just can't keep up (or at least they haven't so far).

Marco and Green finding their shots has definitely helped with how good we've looked, and Leonard is just hitting a groove offensively. I wonder how much last series was our bench underperforming or the Mavs just playing and matching up against us really well. Minus Splitter/Diaw on Dirk, I feel like every other matchup was in Dallas' favor.

And Diaw is creeping his way into being one of my favorite Spurs right now. Yes, I know he hasn't been on the team long, but he's like a taller, rotund Manu who can play better defense (fewer dumb fouls). His quickness and passing ability always surprises me.

Dallas did us a huge favor in round 1 tbqh.

I don't quite agree on the Diaw/Manu comparison because Diaw plays within his ability better than almost any player I've seen. Very rare to see him make a misstep or try something he shouldn't have. Manu constantly pushes the limits of sanity and his ability.

It's not a perfect comparison - Diaw obviously doesn't drive to the basket and do crazy stuff that makes you want to both love and hate him, but his passing is as close to Manu's creativity as there is on the team. That's more what I was getting at. Like I said, not perfect.

Diaw has been one of the most underrated players in the NBA for awhile now. I trust him as much as anyone on the Spurs when it matters and that's saying something. Been one of my fav players since we got him and he's a huge asset for us.

I think a more accurate statement might be underrated on the Spurs. I think you have to be quite a bit more talented than Diaw to be considered extremely underrated across the league. obviously, JMO.

I disagree. He's one of the most underrated players in the entire league IMO.

Diaw is definitely one of the most underrated players in the league, at least by the casual fan. The more intelligent announcers seem to know how skilled and multitalented Diaw is. He's a major reason why the Spurs bench is so dominant.

I am blown away by how easily these old fogies from Spurs have manhandled the younger athletic Blazers..... Pop is by far the best coach in the NBA..... Nobody comes close

Agreed that Diaw is a key bench player for the spurs. But we're talking about arguably the 7th best guy on the spurs roster. Every player is key for the spurs success, but when your talking about the entire league, there's a lot of 8pt 3rb type guys. I don't think you can expect a #7 guy to get national notoriety for his talents.

His size makes his skill set interesting and certainly fit the mold for what the spurs try to do.

This is an excellent explanation of why he is so underrated, but does nothing to refute the idea that he is underrated.

It just shows guys like that can be a dime a dozen. He's underrated on the spurs, but if you want to talk about league wise, you should be focused on guys like Thompson from GS. Guys who are starting and key contributors that don't get recognition. We can go around and aroun on this. Just say I'm right so we can stop though.

Just talking about pure basketball talent Diaw is one of the most underrated overlooked players in the league. He isn't made to be a star and his passive nature makes him suited to be a perfect role player but as far as his talents go there are very very few guys who can score outside, score inside, rebound, defend, pass, and have a basketball IQ like he does. One of the most well rounded players in the whole world. He certainly isn't made to be "the guy" though.

I think you have to have a coach that can utilize his talents correctly. I don't think anyone has done that other than Pop and DAntoni.
