2013 was a remarkable season. The good guys went from worst to first and won the World Series. Unfortunately they will not repeat as champions in 2014. It hasn't happened since the mfy did it back in '99 and 2000. There is simply too much parity in today's game for it to happen again. That doesn't mean it still can't be a fun season though.
I'm excited to see Xander Bogaerts' rookie season and see if he can live up to all of his potential. I'm hopeful that we'll see Will Middlebrooks start to get "it" and have a bounce back year. I want to see how some of the Sox young starting pitchers (Webster, Workman, Ranaudo, De la Rosa) handle themselves when given the opportunity to start (which is inevitable because Buchholz and Peavy will definitely see time on the DL). And I'll be rooting for feel good story Grady Sizemore, as he tries to come back after being away from baseball for the last 2 years due to injury.
I feel pretty confident that the WS rep for the AL in 2014 will come from the East. It is still the "SEC football" of MLB. So that means the Rays, orioles, or mfy will be playing for a title at season's end. My hope would be to see the rays win, as they are the most tolerable of the 3. Baltimore would be tolerable if it weren't for a certain rangers superfan (masquerading as an orioles fan) shooting his mouth off at every turn simply because he likes to troll. And obviously the mfy winning is a worst case scenario because that franchise (and it's fans) embodies everything that is wrong with the sport (though I am fully prepared for this outcome, as the league will do everything in their power to see camptain America go out on top in his final season).
So here's to the East fellas, let the "dropkicked t-shirt bandwagoner" nonsense begin.
