After tonight, I hope the Sox hold off on the urge to move Bradley to the top of the order. It WILL be his obvious lineup location, eventually.

He was just sent back to Pawtucket because he wasn't ready yet. He is playing VERY well since the start of the season. But the 9 slot keeps the pressure off of him for a while.

I'd hold him down there until the first 30 games are done and reevaluate it then.

Ellsbury came into the league as a leadoff. He tried to do too much at first and he suffered. When Victorino is back, have him assume the leadoff position until Bradley is comfortable.

Sox outfield of Sizemore in LF, Bradley in CF, Victorino in RF. Gomes, Carp and Nava as utility. The Sox would have a reserve OF worthy of starting on other teams.

Actually they could send Nava down instead of JBJ when Vic returns (as he still has minor league options). This would make sense if JBJ is still swinging a good bat and Nava is still struggling at that time.

The article you referenced earlier makes valid points about how depth is important for trading for necessary roles. I agree they won't keep 6 OFs. But, just having 6 starter (Carp is probably the questionable starter) is a luxury few have. The Sox will probably want to beef up the starting rotation with Dempster not playing. This scenario gives them flexibility.

Just saw on my CBS Fantasy feed, Farrell is saying he has a huge emphasis on defense and is looking to go with Vic/JBJ/Sizemore when Vic comes off the DL...so I wonder if Nava is gonna get sent down

it would seem to be the best option (sending nava down) because he has minor league options and he's sucking at the plate right now.

I'm hoping they do that as opposed to alleviating the logjam by making a trade. I think it's imperative to keep a hold of this OF depth (especially since sizemore and vic are obviously injury-prone)

There is no reason to rush Victorino back. If he's not ready, he's not ready.

I think the flu recovery is challenging. I had it this year and I readily admit it wiped me out for a week and then a week to feel fully recovered from it and I'm not a pro athlete.
